Hackensack NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of RYAN O. DENNIS (DOB: 1/25/1992; single; unemployed) of 153 Clinton Place, Apartment 2C, Hackensack, New Jersey on a charge of Aggravated Arson. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Robert Anzilotti, and the Hackensack Police Department under the direction of Officer in Charge Captain Peter Busciglio.

At approximately 4:13 p.m. on February 11, 2021, the Hackensack Police Department responded to a report of a disturbance inside Apartment 2C of 153 Clinton Place in Hackensack. Responding officers were advised by a building tenant that there were several loud banging and shattering noises coming from inside Apartment 2C. Upon entering the apartment, officers observed that a section of carpet in a bedroom was on fire, and located a male party seated inside the apartment. Officers extinguished the fire. During their investigation, officers determined that RYAN DENNIS was the sole occupant of the apartment during the disturbance, and that he set the fire intentionally.

As a result of the investigation, DENNIS was arrested and charged with Aggravated Arson, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:17-1a(1), a 2nd degree crime. DENNIS was released on his own recognizance and is scheduled for a first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, New Jersey on Monday, February 22, 2021.

Prosecutor Musella states that the charge is merely an accusation and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, and would also like to thank the Hackensack Police Department and the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance in this investigation.

  1. He set his bedroom carpet on fire and remained in the apartment.
