Man Struck by NJ Transit Train in Hackensack

Hackensack NJ, around 2:45 p.m. on Saturday, an unidentified man, was fatally struck by a NJ Transit train near Passaic Street in Hackensack. The train had departed from Hoboken around 2:13 p.m. and was Spring Valley bound.

The man was later identified as Rev. Robert Davis Sr., 72, of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Hackensack.

It was unknown at the time if the man died instantly or had succumbed to his injuries later. The man was rushed to Hackensack University Medical Center.  There were no injuries reported to any of the train’ crew or passengers.

The accident happened just north of the Essex Street train station on the Pascack Valley Line.

The Hackensack fire department and an ambulance both responded to the scene. NJ Transit Police were also on scene investigating.
