Marcia Ringel responds to Mayor and Deputy Mayor Personal Attacks on her

Marcia here. Hit a nerve, I believe. Why attack me endlessly instead of addressing the points raised? I have lowered the tenor of colloquy? I don’t think so.

Village attorney ought to sue me for slander, quoth the Deputy Mayor. Nothing I said was slanderous–merely embarrassing.

Mayor himself has gone around town telling people I don’t like the handicapped. THAT’S slander.

Everybody who thinks I ought to be ashamed of myself, as the Deputy Mayor also asserted, please raise your hand. Or maybe some other persons ought to be ashamed.

  1. Marcia, you are still on the wrong side of this legal argument, Perhaps, you hire a lawyer first.

  2. It sounds to me like you are just frustrated that the fact is the vote did not go the way you wanted it and you wanted a vote the would have taken advantage of the fact that one person on the counsel was missing (and she did not vote your way). So you wanted a vote that at best would have been a 2 to 2 with one person missing? Makes no sense.

    1. so the legality or a skype vote and usurping the election , is not an issue?

  3. what these 3 are doing is not in line with protocol which naturally causes one to wonder what their motives are. that is our right and duty.

  4. Pooch !

  5. I am saying I don’t see how a majority vote is usurping the election. Had they not had the skype vote it would have been 2-2, no?

  6. Looking at the picture looks like monkey see monkey do.

  7. as i understand it: if it was a 2-2 vote then knudsen would have become deputy (which is customary anyway)…makes me wonder why they want Pucciarelli to be deputy so much that they broke with tradition of councilman with highest votes named as deputy…so much so that they took the extraordinary step of allowing Hauck to skype in her vote…doesn’t pass the smell test for me

  8. so like I said, you wanted Knudsen to be deputy mayor instead of Pucciarelli and you are annoyed that the vote actually happened and they voted differently than you wanted. If Hauck had voted for Knudsen you would have been fine with it.

  9. I enjoy that Hauck did not Syke into that meeting on Wednesday. It was about 3 hours long and included many important discussions and ordinances. I do not expect everyone to make every meeting, but when you are away and Syke into one and not the other makes me wonder why she felt it was more important to attend the first meeting.

Also, I believe the Village Attorney mentioned on Wednesday that an electronic vote is allowed if the councilmember can hear and be heard in the meeting. If you were at that meeting you were not able to hear her as the connection was constantly breaking up and she has to speak very slowly only to hear some of what she was saying. How do we know the connection was not bad on her end too allowing her not to hear the meeting?

I don’t want the Village to split on this, but I think the council should clear the waters and make a list of approved methods of voting and attending the meetings to prevent any of this confusion from happening again.

  10. I love it, Albert and Paul were the first two responding to this, # 1&2. Ho oh, they must have The Blog on immediate notification to their cell phones. Panic time for the two fading kings.

  11. Did you see his self serving letter to the editor in THE RIDGEWOOD NEWS. What an ego. Big Al the Developers Friend will save Ridgewood.

  12. While agree with Ms. Ringel’s point, I believe she is chasing the wrong issue with the July 1 Council meeting. It is very clear that our Mayor, his Deputy and Mrs. Hauck are in communication with each other about how to vote on everything that comes before the Council. The reason Mrs. Hauck was allowed to vote via Skype was because she and her running mates decided that that was what was necessary to secure the outcome they wanted.

These 3 have already been caught red handed twice meeting on their own without the other Council members (remember that Mrs. Hauck “just happened to be in the building” once and “waited outside” the other time?). This is clearly happening all the time since these 3 have voted exactly the same on every issue. How can this happen without the 3 being in constant communication with each other?

We need the lawyers to spend their time investigating Sunshine Law violations not on lawsuits for name calling.

  13. Time to replace the typewriter ribbon on this one, … please.

  14. Only in Ridgewood. Must be nice to worry about irrelevant bluster like this when troops are dying in Afghanistan protecting the very freedom that allows you to hire legal counsel to explore suing the Village Council on a procedural vote.

    1. his bad attitude clearly indicates she hit a nerve , and yes some people still takes the electoral process seriously

  15. Its Karma . Marcia Ringel and the Preserve Graydon group back him in his election run.

  16. Interesting to read this eight years later, when we know the caller-in from African safari (truth) was, or was soon to be, sleeping with one of the people she always voted with.
