Ridgewood NJ, Maroons Coach Chuck Johnson returned for his 37th season after health issues forced Johnson to step down from his post in 2019, in the midst of his 36th year.
Ridgewood Maroons defeated Montclair on a sunny Saturday afternoon, 21-7. The Maroons overcame three turnovers, one of which defused a 17-play, 75-yard drive that ate up 10 minutes and 52 seconds in the first half.
Fullback Jack Foerch scored the first touchdown on a one-yard run. Junior halfback Red Kossick ,who came in after classmate Tahir Kenyatta sprained an ankle scored the go-ahead TD on a 27-yard buck sweep early in the third and got the 12-yard score on the same play.
