Englewood NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of ROBERTO MARTINEZ-GUZMAN (DOB: 9/17/1981, married; laborer) of Englewood, NJ on charges of aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child. The arrest is the result of a joint investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love and the Englewood Police Department under the direction of Chief Thomas Greeley.

On Monday, December 26, 2022, the Englewood Police Department contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit regarding the alleged sexual assaults of two children. An investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Englewood Police Department revealed that ROBERTO MARTINEZ-GUZMAN sexually assaulted the children, who were 13 years old or younger, in Englewood, NJ on more than one occasion.
As a result of the investigation, on Thursday, February 16, 2023, ROBERTO MARTINEZ-GUZMAN was charged with 4 counts of first-degree aggravated sexual assault, N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2a(1); 2 counts of second-degree sexual assault, N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2b; and 2 counts of second-degree endangering the welfare of a child, N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4a(1). MARTINEZ-GUZMAN was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending his first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, NJ.
Prosecutor Musella states that the charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. He would like to thank the Englewood Police Department for their assistance in this investigation.
