Ridgewood NJ, so what is it about those”Millennials” , to many adults its a generation devoid of creativity, work ethic and independent thinking . They demonstrate a general lack of understanding of the basic laws of economics and even the fundamental ability to act in their own best interest.
For years I have been a huge supporter on younger people ,always looking to inspire and motivate . My efforts included running an internship program on Wall Street for over 10 years averaging 4 interns a month . But some how this new generation, “the Millennials ” as they are called , I just felt I was not getting through . Worse yet they openly displayed a lot of characteristics I find offensive. They are lazy know-it-alls ,who disdain advice and seem to worship every form of idiot stupidity they they get near. They have no initiative and accept everything on face value . Worse of all they are always expecting everyone to do everything for them.
Lately my frustration has boiled over and like many people I have distanced myself as much as possible from this generation. However a very interesting realization has come to me in the last couple of days . Millennial’s unlike other generations judge everything by social media , not surprise there I know but after many discussions with a few “millennial’s ” I realized it goes a lot father and deeper .
A recent study pointed out how Millennials felt so stressed, over not enough likes on a social media posts, a phone battery dying or slow WIFI service. I compared that to a family friend who survived the blitz in London during World War two when he was 10 , an uncle who fought in the Battle of Midway at 17 , and a family friend who spent time in Vietnam jumping out of helicopters under Hal Moore and it struck me , Millennial’s live for social media ,and I don’t mean they like social media, or over use social media , I mean really live for social media ! In their heads their lives depend on how many likes a post gets , they don’t worship stupidity , they worship AOC or Kim Kardashian not because they are stupid or ignorant but because they have so many followers on Instagram and Twitter.They don’t love Socialism , they love that Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) has 3.65 million followers on Twitter.. They don’t care if Kim Kardasion is an boring illiterate idiot she has 132 million followers on Instagram and that’s really for them all that counts.
Social media is the world Millennials live in . It is how they judge their personal standing in the world and how they are judged by other Millennials . They are all in a big competition to get more likes, more followers ,more,more more .. There lives revolve around attempts to generate attention through an ever expanding list of social media contacts , go viral or get followed by someone with an even more massive following on social media than themselves. Their entire social order is constructed around their acceptance on and mastery of social media . They are obsessed with social climbing thru social media . They are envious of those with a better “Instagram life ” then their own .The point is not who they are ,the point is who they project they are on social media. Even if they know its all fake ,the success of the projection is all that counts.

Most are lazy. Most are book smart. Very little common sense. I would like to teach a course in high school On comin sense .
We raised several children and a foster child and they all became normal, successful individuals. After that, we raised a grandson and, as they say “forget about it!” His financial sense is absolutely nil. He is well mannered, polite, works hard but has had more jobs than an average young person. All have been better offers, but even with those, he cannot manage his finances. Since our high school no longer gives any non-college courses they could at least give some financial and other knowledge. Being bright and in a good college doesn’t mean a thing if you can’t pay your bills.

Of course that doesn’t fit your narrative, so let’s ignore the facts.
You just wait until these idiots get older and get real control of this country. We will see a lot of AOCs.
They attend Covingburg Catholic High School (for boys and girls). If you watch the entire video, during a break in their tour, the curator gets up in the brown-haired girl’s face extolling the virtues of the museum’s famous painting of the virgin Mary covered with elephant dung, right next to the crucifix bathing in a glass jar full of urine. But, the girl simply smiles and says nothing, instead of barking back at him and calling him the deranged over-educated progressive provocateur he is. The news coverage had it backwards of course. Mongo slander lawsuit to follow.
Millennials will be running the world in a 2-3 decades. I am optimistic that they will not do any worse than the sanctimonious baby boomers (who of course were viewed as worthless be their parents generation). In any case, a piece about obsession with social media written by a professional blogger is a glorious irony.

Excellent article. Most American millennials are self-entitled, Kardashian worshiping, lacking in basic social skills, overall lazy, disrespectful, unprepared for the real world, and lacking in work ethic. Social media is their God. The parents of this generation have to foot the bill for them long after they should be launched and out of the home and on their own. Michael Rotondo is the poster child of the millennial generation. For those unfamiliar with Michael, look him up on the internet. Overall, they are a failure and have set us back 100 years as a society. This is our future. What a shame.
