Ridgewood NJ, A Ford pickup truck collided with a Chrysler Town & Country minivan at the corner of Robinson Lane and Oak Street, Ridgewood at approximately 2:15 PM on Wednesday, 10/15.  The minivan driver sustained a minor injury, but refused medical aid.  The pickup truck driver was uninjured.  A flatbed tow truck removed the minivan from the scene.  The pickup truck drove off on its own power; damage to it was limited to a dented front bumper.  The pickup truck driver told police that the minivan had run a stop sign.  Police at the scene did not say if any summonses had been issued in connection with the crash.  Ridgewood PD, EMS, and FD responded.

  1. A real bitch of an instersection.

  2. Rev Al’s neighborhood. We will some action there.

  3. For some reason, the stop signs along Robinson are “invisible” to drivers. I have seen and been involved in numerous close calls. It would be good for Village Engineer to review and see if there is something obscuring the view of the signs or if double-sided Stop signs are warranted. Just a thought, this will end badly if not addressed.

  4. The good Reverend probably ran over to help the victims through the doors of their cars, since their injuries were (thankfully) minor so he could not help them through the door to the next world (which is his forte)

  5. As for number three, that is what I meant when I said, it’s a bitch of an intersection.

I too, have had close calls. In fact I go out of my to avoid that intersection.

  6. I hear that Rev. Al charges “Billable hours ” ever time he helps some through the doorway

  7. The stop sign is visible. The problem is caused by cut thru traffic in a big rush to make the left onto Oak.

One summer evening I was (walking) crossing Robinson going north on Oak, and a middle aged woman came flying down Robinson and blew through the stop sign in order to set up her left turn. I deliberately stepped in front of her car (I had made eye contact so I knew she saw me) and forced her to stop while I crossed: I had the right of way.

As she made her left, she made a loud remark about “You Goddamn Ridgewood people”, then made her right onto Linwood, bound for Valley or Rt 17 or wherever. I wish I could say I took the high road, but I didn’t. I won’t repeat what I called her.

  8. Who is Rev Al?

    Who is Rev Al?

Not sure, but the guy seems to be obsessed with posting it in about every story. Looks like some kind of inside joke.

  10. Rev Al is Albert Pucciarelli, your Deputy Mayor. He got all religious at an event honoring Roger Wiegand, and talked about holding Roger’s hand as he was passing through the door to the next world. Roger did not like the DM and made that widely known. But the DM felt he could hold the hand of an unconscious, helpless dying man and then publicly announce that he assisted in helping him pass through the “door.” It was really obnoxious. Subsequent to that, the DM acquired the nickname Rev Al, due to his pseudo-religious sermon at that event. The similarity to the Rev Al Sharpton, another big BS artist, is not lost on those who know him.

  11. THANK YOU very much #10. I couldn’t have said it better. I don’t think anyone is obsessed. If he wasn’t pathetic as a person it would be laughable.

  12. Thanks for the clarification. But he is not germane to this discussion. People drive like assholes at that intersection, and the worst of the assholes are people who don’t even live here.

  13. It IS germane to the discussion (sort of) because he lives right there.
