Trenton NJ, Governor Phil Murphy vetoed a bill on Monday that he says would have allowed New Jersey bars and restaurants more freedom while operating outside amid the coronavirus pandemic. The bill would have permitted owners and operators of restaurants, bars, distilleries and breweries to continue to utilize outdoor spaces or public sidewalks as extensions of their business premises, Murphy said.
Former GOP Congressional Candidate Frank Pallotta criticized the decision saying ,” There is no science behind this decision. There is no valid reason for vetoing a bill that passed the State Assembly and Senate with votes of 113-0! It’s simple, blind arrogance. Phil Murphy has an agenda against small businesses – especially the food services industry – that defies logic and leads many to conclude this is purposeful and malicious. And lastly, where is Congress? Why are they not publicly speaking out in support of the industry – and against Murphy? Why are they not holding this administration accountable and demanding that restaurants be treated exactly the same as other businesses in the State that have been allowed to remain fully opened, while “self-policing”? The answer is both frightening and obvious. The solution is simple. Our State Senate and Assembly, as well as both houses of Congress – AND Trenton, are controlled by one party that has failed us. Checks and balances have given way to graft, corruption and complacency.
What do they mean by “More” freedom?
Nobody will get sick eating outside in the winter… right?
