Parsippany NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of AMIT BHATT (DOB: 7/05/1979; married; employed as an accountant) of Morris Plains, NJ on sexual assault and child endangerment charges. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love and the Lyndhurst Police Department under the direction of Chief Richard Jarvis.
On Tuesday, January 11, 2022, the Lyndhurst Police Department contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit regarding the alleged sexual assault of a child. An investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Lyndhurst Police Department revealed that AMIT BHATT sexually assaulted the victim, a child younger than 13.
As a result of the investigation, on Tuesday, January 25, 2022, AMIT BHATT was arrested in Parsippany, NJ, and charged with second-degree sexual assault by sexual contact, N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2b; and third-degree endangering the welfare of a child, N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4a(1). BHATT was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending his first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, NJ.
Prosecutor Musella states that the charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, and he would like to thank the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office, Lyndhurst Police Department and the Parsippany-Troy Hills Police Department for their assistance in this investigation.
