Ridgewood NJ, As students return to school this fall, Americans are more likely to rate the nation’s public schools as doing a poor job than to rate them good or excellent, but they give higher scores to schools in their local district.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 34% of American Adults rate the performance of public schools in America today as poor. That’s higher than the 30% combined who rate America’s schools as excellent (8%) or good (22%). (To see survey question wording, click here.)
