Ridgewood NJ, we’d like to know the name of the Village employee who decided it was okay to block off nine revenue-generating, premium parking spaces every Sunday through Friday so that the vehicle stop barriers used when the pedestrian plaza is set up on Saturday could be kept nearby.
The affected parking spaces are in the Prospect St. [3], Chestnut St. [2], and North Walnut St. [2] parking lots. There are also 2 affected spaces on East Ridgewood Ave. at the train station.
Are sponsors of the pedestrian plaza reimbursing taxpayers for lost revenue associated with the blocking off of these nine premium parking spaces?

I understand.
Just plain stupid.
Duh?
The lack of competency is alarming.
How much was the cost of these yellow metal mouse traps when triangular legged wooden blockades served this purpose for about 50 years..
Ask the terrorists who drive into crowds. Or the old people who hit the gas instead of the brake. These barriers will stop a vehicle.
no they will not.
But it’s ok to ride bicycles, skate boards and scooters in the street.

Pretty sure there is plenty of room at the recycling center.
You silly.
Pretty Sure there is room in the Big Garage LOL
Ha!
Every day, Ridgewood becomes less and less special.
Very sad.
I will try and fix it
The wooden horses really can’t keep a car out; these metal things can if effectively used.
I doubt we lost any revenue to these; not like we people are waiting for parking spots.
I do agree re some of them being premium locations..sheesh
Mayor Paul Vagianos believes that the lack of parking is to blame for every downtown business failure. If you subscribe to his theory, every blocked parking spot could result in a business failure.
Oh gosh, so you have to walk a few feet further over to the garage? Oh the humanity!
Thanks Evan
There is plenty of room in the Hudson Street parking garage. Why can’t they be stored there?
And who’s making overtime on the weekend for these events. And with the tax payers like to know, what does it cost for all the over time?. we think the village should go back to paying comp time to the employees that would help the budget.
I sent an OPRA for the Billings for the pedestrian plaza. There is no reimbursement for any parking spots, unlike the billing in 2021 which did charge for the difference between the premium spot rates and the parking garage rates, which are a lower rate. I guess that’s what Paulie wanted.
You guys need to get a life…
say hi to mom for me
