Murphy’s Mask Mandate Represents a Clear and Present Danger to New Jersey

Pandemic vs Epidemicin post

Trenton NJ, Senator Michael Doherty blasted Governor Phil Murphy for his arbitrary and unscientific approach to responding to the coronavirus, including a new mandate that will force New Jerseyans to wear masks even when outside.

“Governor Murphy has used the opportunity presented by the coronavirus to initiate a big government power grab,” said Doherty (R-23). “His unilateral and oppressive actions are destroying the economy and will now negatively impact everyday New Jerseyans outside in the summer sun.

“New Jerseyans have overwhelmingly complied with social distancing and common-sense safety measures, and they are to be commended for slowing the spread. Enforcing a new mask mandate while cases have dropped is exploiting a public health crisis for power.

“Murphy’s new mask order represents a clear and present danger to the health of New Jersey residents. Healthy residents should not be forced to wear masks outside, especially in this heat and humidity. New Jerseyans with asthma and chronic lung conditions will also disproportionately suffer. It is time for Republicans and Democrats in the Legislature to come together and push back against this unnecessary takeover of our rights and freedoms and let New Jerseyans breathe a sigh of relief.”

  1. Well back in March so many individuals daughters epidemic was a joke. Well it’s no joke. Look at the numbers down south. What’s going to happen if those numbers skyrocket in New Jersey again.

  2. I do not understand. I despise Murphy as much as I despise any other creep from the left. But keeping a mask and specifically one of those surgical , lightweight ones doesn’t seem like a big deal to me. It doesn’t affect breathing at all. In addition the mandate only applies to cases when the 6′ distance cannot be respected. Wearing a mask for a few months shouldn’t be such a crazy point of contention. IT SAVES LIVES from this virus and makes people (like myself) comfortable to go out and possibly take public transportation to work again. And how does he stand to benefit power from this? He is king already in this deeply blue state and will easily win as many times as he wishes. This a reality. NJ is gone blue for eternity. There are a million issues with the moron but mandating masks is not one of them.

  4. James, I am the anon who posted above. We can only go by what the higher ups tell us. If they say that 2 people wearing masks can chat with each other and with a high degree of certainty there is no transmission we will have to go by that. I personally have a lot of doubts about what we’re told but there is no way for me to become a scientist and figure it out myself. It is however a BIG comfort to know that any mask helps to significantly reduce transmission. It may only be a placebo effect but still at least mentally can help a lot of people. The rest is wait and see. I believe this pandemic has been purposely magnified and we’re being played for the ultimate goal of destroying Trump and concluding the global agenda but this is a different topic.

  5. This mask mandate is unconstitutional and it may be in effect for years and not a few more months. NJ is the state with the unconstitutional “show cause” to get a ccw when the cause is obvious and not in the second Amendment. The cause is to protect self and family especially now with radical left groups attacking at will even things and people on their side.

    .
    Masks are just a placebo.
Even CDC says they don’t protect the individual.
    .
N95 masks may do something, but the “cloth masks” are a joke. They have holes so large they provide NO barrier to the virus – they are just a placebo.

  7. This pandemic should not be a political issue. The virus does not care if you’re a Democrat or a Republican. We need to work together as as the UNITED STATES to figure out what is best for all. Choosing between the economy and sickness and death? We’re between a rock and a hard place. Stop accusing each other! Go to work but do it intelligently. Wearing a mask or not wearing a mask is not part of the constitution. Maybe it will save lives. There’s so much we don’t know. If there’s a chance it will save lives along with social distance, then do it! This virus has taken a toll on our mental health and we need to get out of the house. We need some fun but we need to maintain social distancing we cannot afford to throw caution to the wind. Maybe NY and NJ are doing better because after the suffering and loss of life endured, people in these states are cooperating with scientists’ recommendations.

  8. Wear the damn mask!! I can’t stand this fight already!! I had my mask on for 9 hours straight yesterday visiting my mom in the hospital because shes so depressed and sick from being locked away in a nursing g hone for months because of this pandemic. The people that are against the mask have not been impacted in anyway from knowing coronavirus people or parents that have been so affected by this pandemic. Wait until you’re affected and I bet you’ll put in that mask and ask no questions!!! Please wear your mask!! It doesn’t cause dehydration or breathing issues.

  9. Well I know for a fact wearing a mask for too long, (especially out in the heat), causes some breathing issues, even if just minor issues. How do I know? Cause I have asthma and I start breathing heavier with the mask on for too long! As does my cousin who has worse asthma than me. As does my mother who has some medical issues of her own. So whoever says “masks don’t cause breathing issues”, YOU obviously never had an issue or have someone close to you who has an issue that causes them to breathe heavier, then become panicked due to fearing an asthma attack. But I forgot, it’s not about my own health and welfare, it’s about who I’m supposedly protecting by wearing a mask…

  10. Wear the mask when you need to like not being able to social distance. On hot humid days when the air quality is not good it DOES inhibit breathing. No need to wear a mask in the car when no one else is in it or your family members are in it. Use common sense people, seriously!!! I am not wearing a mask if I am not in close proximity however when I am I will . It’s common sense!!!!

  11. Governor Murphy’s mask mandate is unconstitutional and violates human rights. He shouldn’t be given the power to dictate what people wear on their bodies. He’s overstepping his position as governor and should be stopped. First its the mask and next it’ll be something worse. New Jersey residents need to step up and let their voices be heard and definitely vote Murphy out of office. He’s not serving the people of New Jersey, he’s dictating and violating our rights.
