Fort Lee NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of CARLETON E. DIXON (DOB: 7/09/1982; single; unemployed) of 307 Stanley Road, New Vineyard, Maine for drug and firearm related crimes. The arrest is the result of an investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love.
On Tuesday, February 8, 2022, during a narcotics investigation, members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotics Task Force conducted a search of a black 2012 Chevrolet Silverado in Fort Lee, NJ. The searched revealed bulk marijuana over twenty-five pounds, bulk U.S. currency totaling $50,705, and a handgun which was later found to be a “ghost gun.” “Ghost guns” are homemade firearms that lack commercial serial numbers. DIXON was arrested and transported to the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office in Paramus, NJ, for processing.
CARLETON DIXON was charged with first-degree possession with the intent to distribute marijuana, N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5b(10)a; second-degree unlawful possession of a handgun, N.J.S.A. 2C:39-5b; second-degree possession of a weapon while committing a drug related crime, N.J.S.A. 2C:39-4.1; third-degree transporting a ghost gun, N.J.S.A. 2C:39-9k; third-degree money laundering, N.J.S.A. 2C:21-25a; and third-degree possession with the intent to distribute hashish, N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5b(11). DIXON was transported to the Bergen County Jail pending his first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, NJ.
Prosecutor Musella states that the charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, and he would like to thank the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance in this investigation.
