Ridgewood NJ, New Jersey Family Magazine ranked the top towns in New Jersey for families.
To come up with the ranking, they looked at the entire state—more than 500 towns in all—and measured each municipality against a host of important factors, including school district quality, crime rates, affordability, commute times, percentage of families who live there, access to hospitals and general lifestyle factors.
How did Ridgewood rank: # 55 Ridgewood , population 24,999
Ridgewood neighbors fared a bit better in overall ranking , #3 Glen Rock Bergen 11,631, #10 Midland Park population 7,131, #22 Ho-Ho-Kus Borough population 4,085.

Wyckoff is #14.
The biggest ding against Ridgewood (relative to GR, HHK and Wyckoff) is crime.
The chart at the link below breaks out where most of the crime happens in Ridgewood. Hint: A ‘vibrant’ downtown that attracts a lot of outsiders also brings in other unwanted effects.
Per Neighborhood Scout crime stats (violent crimes per 1000 residents),
Ridgewood: 0.47
Wyckoff: 0.17
GR: 0.17
HHK: 0.16

Will our rating sink even lower when Valley moves its main building to Paramus? Worth it!
And Midland Park is #10….
And I pay half of what you pay in real estate taxes, enjoy a civilized municipal council chaired by one of your former police officers who genuinely looks after my interests and I send my children to blue ribbon schools with a yearly budget of 24 million. So here’s an idea. Get your head out of your eleitest self centered ass and open your eyes to what’s really happening around you instead of worrying about how you stack up against the jonses. Pretty pathetic. And the information you pulled from scout is questionable at best if not down right wrong. City stat is where reliable non-realtor information is generated and shared by people who actually live in said neighborhoods.
