New Jersey Ranks Near Bottom on Bankrate’s 2016 Best and Worst States to Retire

Ridgewood NJ, Bankrate.com in March released its 2016 “Best and Worst States to Retire” list, a ranking of states according to their cost of living, crime rate, health care quality, tax burden, personal well-being for seniors and weather. New Jersey placed 40th on this year’s list, owing mostly to its high cost of living, while Jersey neighbors  Connecticut (42), New York (50) , and Pennsylvania (20) .

  1. As people age they move to warmer states and much lower taxes,so there is nothing new here.

  2. Actually a lot of people are opting for the shore instead of south of the Mason Dixon line… condos around Monmouth Beach and Long Branch areas are being looked at as alternatives…

  3. My friends who moved out of the area to nc and sc regret it.

  4. decent condo prices along the shore and re taxes are WAY lower.
