Trenton NJ, on Tuesday, the New Jersey Supreme Court ordered ex-Black Panther Sundiata Acoli (formerly Clark Edward Squire) released on parole. Acoli was serving a sentence for the slaying of New Jersey State Trooper Werner Foerster nearly fifty years ago (1973). His accomplice – Joanne Chesimard – remains at large in Cuba.

“Upon hearing of the Supreme Court decision to release Sundiata Acoli, I immediately called Trooper Werner Foerster’s widow who is as devastated and disappointed by this decision as I am. Acoli’s release is not only an injustice for the Foerster family and the men and women who serve within the New Jersey State Police, but to every law enforcement officer in this country who dedicates their lives for the safety of the citizens we are sworn to protect.” said Colonel Patrick J. Callahan, Superintendent of the New Jersey State Police.
“Last Monday, 49 years ago to the day, Trooper Foerster was not given a second chance when he was murdered on the New Jersey Turnpike, leaving behind a widow and 3-year-old son. Under today’s law, Acoli would be in prison for life without the possibility of parole. While we cannot change the laws in place when this murder occurred, I was hopeful that understanding the risks law enforcement officers face on a daily basis would have helped to keep Acoli in prison for the remainder of his life.”
Bob Hugin, Chairman of the New Jersey State Republican Committee (“NJGOP”) issued the following statement in response to the release of cop killer fugitive Joanne Chesimard’s accomplice Sundiata Acoli:
“At a time when our brave law enforcement officers are under attack, it is unthinkable that the convicted murderer of State Trooper Werner Foerster will now walk free. It is particularly devastating given the fact that justice has yet to be fully served. Joanne Chesimard, Acoli’s accomplice, has never been held accountable for this heinous act – and Democratic policies are partially to blame. From the Obama Administration’s failure to secure extradition from Cuba before normalizing diplomatic relations to the inaction of Democrats in the New Jersey legislature, we are not moved by their display of faux outrage today.”
He concluded, “Democrats have not only sympathized with Chesimard for years, but they have also generally supported a dangerous ‘defund-the-police & release the criminals’ agenda here in New Jersey that has left our communities less safe. This November, voters will see through their crocodile tears.”
The liberal left wing NJ state supreme court also freed cop killer Thomas Trantino
He should be thankful he can see the sunrise virtually every morning from his secure place.
Foerster cannot.
