Today, 14 children and one teacher at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas were killed, and others injured, in a mass shooting. Nothing about this is normal. We do not have to accept that we live in a country where children are shot just for going to school. My heart goes out to the families of the victims, and we must all do everything we can to end the epidemic of gun violence.
The safety of our State’s residents—including and especially our children—is my top priority. Tonight, joined by New Jersey State Police Superintendent Colonel Callahan, I spoke with law enforcement officers from across the state to ensure coordination in the aftermath of this tragedy. I also directed the New Jersey State Police and our 21 County Prosecutors to increase law enforcement presence at schools throughout New Jersey effective immediately. The State Police will increase their presence at the schools where Troopers are the primary law enforcement. The County Prosecutors will direct their municipal police departments to likewise increase law enforcement presence at schools throughout their jurisdictions.
Our students, their families and caregivers, teachers, and school administrators should feel safe in school, and be assured that New Jersey’s law enforcement agencies will do everything in their power to protect them.
If you are in an emergency: call 9-1-1 immediately.

Another shooter.
Likely no father in the family, ritalin kid, violent video game advocate.
Another mental health case
Instead of seeking a solution the Democrats will politicize the tragedy promoting more duplication of existing gun laws that penalize honest americans looking to protect themselves since the Democrats promote lawlessness and no bail. (Newsflash-criminals dont obey laws)
Heres a simple solution:
you go to a sports event or courthouse, you pass thru security
put a single entry point in the schools
Allow qualified trained teachers to conceal carry.
For those who don’t understand the principle… think about this.
HOW many airliners have been hijacked in the USA since the 9-11 tragedy?
Answer. NONE
WHY?
Enhanced security by TSA and more importantly…
Because undercover ARMED air marshals and ARMED pilots are onboard. (NOT in uniform)
Good guy with a gun deterrant works.
My sympathies to the families of this unspeakable tragedy. Act logically to prevent it from ever happenning again
Don’t forget McPress, the new profit center.
They will publicize everything including the stories of the victims and will do the mandatory biography of the killer.
The better to encourage the next unbalanced idiot who will see this as the way to the eternal fame that he or she has been denied in this unfair life.
Then rinse and repeat.
Only a ftard could vote thumbs down on the logical suggestions.
Hows that ‘gun free school zone’ working out
RIP to the victims
All exterior doors to schools should be locked all day right after school day begins.
Armed security guard should be posted inside at main entrance. Anyone claiming to have a reason to get into the school should be on the armed security guard’s daily list of approved guests or be denied access by armed security guard.
Anyone lurking in the school yard or creating havoc near the school yard should be immediately reported to police. Every local Board of Ed should immediately put these security policies into place.
It’s a lot different now than in the 1970s when I walked two miles to elementary school and was able to enter at either entrance front or side which were always unlocked. We never even thought about a lunatic entering our school. The world was more innocent back then. I feel sorry for kids today who fear going to school. They need to feel safe and that can only be achieved these days through security policies I outlined above.
Just like a prison
Joe Biden has failed the mentally ill in this country. Pray for the victims, and that something like this never happens again.
Neither parent realized there was something amiss with their child? or did they and just did nothing? Thats where it starts someone had to notice this guy was off somehow and address it
