Hoboken NJ, earlier this week, New Jersey Transit Police Officer Silletti was presented the 200 Club of Hudson County Valor Award. He was recognized for the selfless actions he took in an attempt to rescue a man in the Hudson River.
During a winter patrol at Hoboken Terminal (2019), Officer Silletti observed a man that had entered the freezing Hudson River. With no regard for his own life, Silletti entered the Hudson in an attempt to rescue the man. Although the man succumbed to exposure, Silletti survived, and they were both lifted from the water. This incident occurred prior to the pandemic and Officer Silletti was subsequently acknowledged this week.
In addition, the New Jersey Transit Police Department and ESU were awarded the Valiant Teamwork Award. This regarded the statewide response to assist Jersey City during an attack by heavily armed and barricaded terrorists (2019).
On hand to receive these awards were Chief Trucillo and Captain Wells. Multiple members of NJTPD leadership were in attendance.
