New York NY, on Wednesday U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy sent Gov. Kathy Hochul a letter pulling federal approval for the tolls that charged most drivers a $9 fee to enter Manhattan south of 60th Street.
New York Gov. Kathy Hochul (D) on Wednesday pushed back against President Trump after the White House rescinded approval of Manhattan’s congestion pricing plan.
“Since this first-in-the-nation program took effect last month, congestion has dropped dramatically and commuters are getting to work faster than ever. Broadway shows are selling out and foot traffic to local businesses is spiking,” Hochul said in a statement posted to the social platform X.
“We’ll see you in court,” she added, stating the Metropolitan Transportation Authority initiated legal proceedings over the move in the Southern District of New York.
On Wednesday, the president said New York was “saved” after the administration announced it would walk back the pricing plan.
But NJ Assemblymen Christopher DePhillips and Al Barlas, representatives of Legislative District 40 in the northeastern part of New Jersey, are praising the action by the Trump administration on Wednesday to withdraw federal approval for New York’s congestion pricing.
“We are thankful that President Trump and Secretary Duffy saw congestion pricing for exactly what it is – a blatant money-grab that hurts hardworking New Jersey commuters and businesses,” DePhillips (R-Bergen) said. “Trump has delivered on yet another promise to protect us from the regressive tax. The news deserves to be celebrated by all New Jerseyans no matter your political affiliation.”
During his campaign, President Trump called the tax a “disaster” and vowed to kill the tolls.
“Today’s announcement is a big win for New Jersey drivers who have been pick-pocketed by New York to fix the failures of their transit system,” Barlas (R-Essex) said. “Assemblyman DePhillips and I applaud President Trump and his administration for recognizing the negative impact the tolling scheme has on the wallets of commuters, the success of businesses and our nation’s economy. New Jersey was on the losing end of a very bad deal championed by Democrats across the Hudson and enabled by the Biden White House.”

She’s such a dope.
NOBODY wants this extra tax
Her ‘fight’ will be about as popular as a loud fart in a quiet church
She’s taxing people right out of the city she needs to go
Dumb as a stump
She looks like she eats live mice.
Post of the day !
Typical liberal governor.. at least Murphy praised Trump despite the fact that she and murphy have the same set of choppers in common
Another crazy democrat fighting for the right to keep picking your pockets!
She took the bait. Now she is literally fighting for the right to charge $9 per day and assumes new yorkers are behind her.
No matter how much makeup she uses, she looks and acts crazy. She paused the program until elections passed which clearly means she knows people do not want it. Now the program is going down the toilet and many millions have gone to waste.
Sorry Hokum. Say goodbye to your cash grab.
Do you need to show her picture?
She has better teeth than our governor….
I can’t see a court being legally allowed to stop this. It’s clear in Federal law. Of course, this probably means nothing to an activist judge.
Everyone who has paid should also be reimbursed.
