Ridgewood NJ, Sunday afternoon was a rough one for NFL fans in North Jersey as Optimum service experienced scattered outages, leaving many unable to watch their favorite teams in action. Giants and Jets fans in particular found themselves frustrated as early afternoon games became inaccessible due to the disruptions.

According to an Optimum outage map, the affected areas included around 86 customers in Morris Plains, 146 in Mount Olive, 49 in Allamuchy Township, and 15 in the Lake Hopatcong region. But the outage wasn’t confined to North Jersey. Reports also surfaced in The Bronx, on Long Island, and in central New Jersey, further fueling the frustrations of football fans eager to watch their teams.

By 2 p.m., Downdetector showed that outage reports had surged, reaching nearly 4,000. Many upset fans took to social media, voicing their anger at missing out on the highly anticipated games.

Adding to the frustration, this isn’t the first time Optimum customers have experienced such issues. Earlier this month, the service provider faced a similar outage, leaving fans and subscribers concerned about the reliability of their service during key moments of the football season.

For die-hard NFL fans, missing even a few plays can feel like a major loss. With playoff hopes and bragging rights on the line, fans will be hoping for a quick resolution to these recurring issues before the next game day.

  1. I haven’t watched the NFL in 3+ years.

How many national anthems do they play now before a game..?

  2. All slaves revolting over a temporary interruption of their streaming circus.

  3. Football and boxing are brutal and destructive and should be illegal.

  4. All the more reason for more competition in the industry. Optimum sucks and needs to go! 5G home internet, if it is ever built out, is exactly the solution. One small box (the size of a vase) in your home, with no cable connection, connects wirelessly to an antenna/ tower and broadcasts Wi-Fi into your home. Fast, affordable ($35/mo), and eliminates of all the cable router/modem/cabling nonsense. Come on Verizon/T-Mobile. Get with it. Millions of customers await you.
