Trenton NJ, well, here we go again. New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy has decided to carve out $1 million from his proposed $58.1 billion state budget to fund Attorney General Matthew Platkin’s Project for Federal Accountability—because apparently, New Jersey taxpayers don’t have anything better to spend money on.
What’s the Plan?
This brilliant initiative will allow the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office to hire up to 10 lawyers to challenge the Trump administration’s policies in court. The focus? Fighting the constitutionality of efforts aimed at rooting out corruption and waste in Washington, D.C.
So essentially, New Jersey will be spending money to fight federal actions meant to cut spending—and they’re calling this “accountability.”
A Million Dollars? Really?
Here’s the real kicker: Is $1 million even enough to make a dent in these lawsuits?
🔹 California allocated $25 million to fight Trump-era policies—a number that at least sounds somewhat substantial.
🔹 New Jersey already has a similar initiative, shelling out $11.2 million this year to legal nonprofits fighting deportations and detentions.
🔹 But $1 million? That barely covers legal fees for one serious court battle, let alone multiple.
Even Murphy’s own administration admitted that $1 million isn’t much, but hey, at least it could double the staff working on these lawsuits. Because, of course, more government lawyers will definitely solve New Jersey’s problems.
Where’s the Return on Investment?
Attorney General Matt Platkin and his allies have already sued Trump over five different actions taken during his first month back in office.
Their argument? Trump is violating the law and hurting New Jersey residents?
But let’s be real—how many of these lawsuits have actually gone anywhere? If history is any indicator, we’re looking at costly, drawn-out legal battles with little chance of success.
The Bottom Line
New Jersey taxpayers get to foot the bill for what looks like a symbolic (and expensive) legal stunt. Instead of focusing on crime, infrastructure, or affordability, Murphy is investing in futile courtroom drama.
If you were wondering whether New Jersey’s priorities were “stuck on stupid,” well—here’s your answer.

Typical tax and spend Democrats
NJ is in the shitter since the Dems own this state
Liberal logic – waste money to block efforts seeking to stop wasting money.
Our leaders in this state don’t represent the common man. They represent big govt, corporations, and the money changers. Who thinks they’ll actually improve our lives?
Yet, the common man keeps voting them into office.
Hence, why common men were once kept out of voting.
you mean women
Murphy and Dems suck! How about giving legal aid to the elderly and their families to fight elder abuse, Ageism, where the healthcare of the elderly is based on age not the illness! “They’re not worth it” attitude!
Murphy and the dems need to be locked up! How about giving legal aid to the elderly and their families to fight Ageism!, where the healthcare and treatment of the elderly are judged by age and not the illness! “their not worth it attitude” hospitals and nursing homes need to be held accountable!
ah what’s another $1 Mill on top of the $7 Billion for Illegal Aliens in the $58 Billion Budget. Also sneaky little clauses in the “approved” budget allow for Murphy’s wasteful follies like this without legislative approval. Hard to believe that he’s somehow ? a former Goldman Sachs exec ? – must have failed Wharton’s MBA Finance 101 at re: “ROI” calculations!
This is why NJ is the state that more people leave than any other state in the US- don’t spend my money on this BS – showboating at its finest- can’t wait til he’s outta here-
