FAIR LAWN, NJ – A Friday morning commute took a dramatic turn in Fair Lawn when an unmarked New Jersey State Police (NJSP) vehicle crashed into a local commercial building.
The Collision at Broadway and 26th
On the morning of Friday, May 8, 2026, emergency crews rushed to the intersection of Broadway and 26th Street following reports of a multi-vehicle accident. According to initial reports, an unmarked NJSP SUV collided with a four-door Nissan sedan.
The force of the impact sent the police vehicle off the roadway and into a building that houses a local dental clinic.

Structural Concerns and Cleanup
Both the unmarked SUV and the Nissan sustained significant damage and were towed from the scene. Because the police vehicle struck the dental office, a Borough of Fair Lawn Building Department sub-code official was called to the scene to conduct a structural integrity inspection.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Fair Lawn Police and State Police supervisors.
