
Three Injured After SUV Slams Into Utility Pole Near Ridgewood High School

RIDGEWOOD, NJ – A serious single-vehicle accident disrupted the Friday afternoon commute in Ridgewood, leaving three people hospitalized after a violent collision near a local landmark.

Head-On Crash on East Ridgewood Avenue
On the afternoon of Friday, May 8, 2026, emergency responders were called to the 600 block of East Ridgewood Avenue following reports of a severe motor vehicle accident.
A Nissan Pathfinder, carrying three occupants, veered off the roadway and struck a utility pole head-on. The incident occurred in close proximity to Ridgewood High School, a high-traffic area for students and residents alike.

The impact was severe enough to require a massive coordinated effort from local emergency services. Responding agencies included:

Three separate ambulances were utilized to transport the victims to the main campus of Hackensack University Medical Center. While the extent of their injuries has not been fully disclosed, the vehicle was described as “demolished” and required a flatbed tow truck for removal from the scene.


Investigation Ongoing
As of Friday evening, Ridgewood Police have not indicated what caused the driver of the Pathfinder to lose control. The area near the high school was briefly secured while crews worked to clear the wreckage and ensure the utility pole did not pose a further safety risk to the public.
Officials from the Ridgewood Professional Firefighters FMBA Local 47 assisted in the recovery and scene safety operations.
