NJ Transit Police Officer Helps Apprehend Driver of Stolen Newark Fire Department Vehicle

Fairview NJ, on Sunday July 4th, New Jersey Transit Police officers were deployed at heightened alert to protect travelers throughout the holiday weekend. Officer Graybill was patrolling near Tonnelle Avenue Station. He observed a Newark Fire Department vehicle that had recently been reported stolen. The vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed and posed an immediate threat to public safety.

Officer Graybill attempted to stop the vehicle and alerted NJTPD Police Dispatchers. Shortly thereafter, Graybill was joined by a Fairview Police Officer. Together, the officers were able to successfully apprehend the driver and they recovered the vehicle without injury to the public.
