the Ridgewood Blog Suffers a Rash of Technical Issues

Dear Reader

After 12 years we had to clean up our data base which took about 36 hours ,it is like cleaning an attic after spending a life time in a house . Apparently we had bats in the belfry and as you may have noticed we have had a rash of technical issues in recent days .

The next step in our upgrade is going to be migrating to a faster and more robust data base and the third and final step will be to clean up a few software problems and cliches.

In the mean time , try our new url : www.ridgewoodblog.net as well as the older , www.theridgewoodblog.net if you are having any trouble getting connected .

Ridgewood Water Gives Comprehensive Report keeping our water safe and is complying with EPA guidelines

Jeff Voigt Ridgewood Council

Ridgewood NJ, Last night at the Village Council meeting, Rich Calbi gave an outstanding (and comprehensive) report on how the Water Company is keeping our water safe and is complying with (and exceeding) EPA guidelines.  He is a great guy, very thorough and although he was speaking about scientific details, it was easy to understand.  Also, it is very helpful that the powerpoint slides are broadcast on the live stream to us at home.  I have been at meetings where you cannot even begin to see what is projected on those relatively small screens.  Thank you Mr. Calbi for your hard work on our behalf.

Reader says We Need Cameras

Jimmy-Kimmel-unveils-GoPro-camera-for-dogs

Yes, placing at least a temporary camera in places where problems have been identified would make a lot of sense and cost very little. We are so lucky to have curbside trash pickup FREE roughly twice a month. There is no excuse for this laziness and yes, commission of a crime. The trouble is that once trash begins to accumulate, it’s seen as a free zone. Not true. We should all care about our parks.

Ridgewood NJ, 4 years ago Kerrie Prettitore, a 42 year old mother of 3, was diagnosed with colon cancer. She subsequently had successful surgery to remove the tumor. While recovering from surgery she began what was to be a routine, 6-month chemotherapy regimen. But after just one treatment, she became very ill and her condition quickly became life threatening. A test performed several weeks after the chemotherapy treatment revealed she had a condition known as DPD Deficiency (Dihydropyrimidine dehydrogenase deficiency) which prevented her body from breaking down one of the chemotherapy drugs she received, 5-FU (fluorouracil).
