Tragedy at LaGuardia: 2 Dead, Dozens Injured in Air Canada Runway Collision

NEW YORK — LaGuardia Airport (LGA) is reeling from its first fatal aviation accident in over three decades. Late Sunday night, an arriving Air Canada Flight 8646 collided with a Port Authority rescue vehicle on the runway, leaving two pilots dead and over 40 people injured.

As the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) begins a massive recovery operation, travelers are being warned of significant disruptions at one of the nation’s busiest travel hubs.
