The Ridgewood Art Institute’s 59th Annual Young People’s Exhibition: Call For Entries

Ridgewood NJ, The Ridgewood Art Institute invites all young artists in Ridgewood and it’s surrounding communities to enter this exhibition. All entrants must be between the ages of 7 and 17. Original artwork, done either independently or at school is welcome. Any size is acceptable, however, all artwork must be framed, WIRED and ready to hang. No computer generated or 3-dimensional artwork will be accepted. Student members of the Ridgewood Art Institute may enter up two pieces, all others may enter one. Entries must be delivered to the Ridgewood Art Institute on Saturday, May 19th between the hours of 10am and 3pm. The following information must be printed on the back of the artwork: Name,Title, Age, Address, Contact Number, School and Grade.
In addition, you will be required to fill out an entry form on receiving day.

Opening Reception and Awards Ceremony: Sunday, June 3rd, 2018 2-4pm
Artwork available for viewing through Friday, June 15th, 2018
Pickup: Saturday, June 16th, 2018 10am-12pm

All entries will be judged by the the Ridgewood Art Institute’s instructors. Scholarships in traditional painting and drawing, cash prizes, merchandise awards, certificates of merit and honorable mentions will be awarded.

Parlance Chamber Concerts Presents NEUBAUER-McDERMOTT FAMILY CONCERT

Ridgewood NJ, On May 6, the stellar Neubauer-McDermott Family will bring our eleventh season to an exhilarating conclusion. Violist Paul Neubauer (of the Lincoln Center Chamber Music Society), violinist Kerry McDermott (of the New York Philharmonic), and their children, violinists Oliver and Clara Neubauer, will be joined by Kerry’s sister, CMS pianist Anne-Marie McDermott, in music of Bach, Dvořák, Ravel, and Schumann.

The concert will include the World Premiere of Gilad Cohen’s* Quintet for Three Violins, Viola, and Piano, commissioned by PCC especially for this event. Inspired by the familial theme, Cohen’s work will focus on children’s songs from Israel and America.

*Gilad Cohen is a Ridgewood resident and a music professor at Ramapo College. A Princeton Ph.D., he is the winner of the 2016 Barlow Prize and the 2010 Israeli Prime Minister Award for Composers.

Ridgewood Chorale Proudly Presents 90th Anniversary Spring Concert

Ridgewood NJ, This is a year of momentous anniversaries for The Ridgewood Choral! Celebrating 90 years of song and service, the Choral will present its Annual Spring Concert on Saturday, May 5 at 7:30 p.m. at West Side Presbyterian Church, 6 South Monroe Street, Ridgewood, NJ.

Under the direction of Marjorie Vandervoort, who is celebrating her 25th year as Music Director, the choral will sing classics by Purcell as well as modern pieces such as A Spring Bouquet written for the Choral by our beloved friend and former accompanist, Richard Lane. To make our 2018 concert even more unique, the Northern Highlands Regional High School concert choir, under the direction of Thomas Paster, will join us.

Susan LaFever, pianist is celebrating 10 years with the Choral. She will also accompany the choral on French Horn in two Emily Dickinson poems set to music by James Mulholland.

Jazz Saxophonist, Isaac Ketter of Fair Lawn, winner of the 2018 Florence Reinauer Memorial Music Award, will perform at the concert. The scholarship is presented annually for excellence in vocal or instrumental music.
The Marjorie Vandervoort Vocal Award was instituted this year in honor of Marjorie Vandervoort’s 25 years as Music Director. The winner Alto Tiffani Rivera of Suffern, NY will also perform at the concert.
A reception with light refreshments will follow the performance. Join us as we welcome Spring with this beautiful blend of choral pieces.

Ridgewood NJ, The Ridgewood Art Institute is home to many talented artists. We welcome you to visit us and view our Annual Members’ Holiday Show and Sale, usually featuring over 150 pieces of beautiful artwork. In addition, this year we are also including a Small Works Fundraising Exhibition with pieces priced at $150, all proceeds benefit The Ridgewood Art Institute.

What better way to kick off the Holiday Season, than to meet our artists and other art enthusiasts in a festive setting? Please join us for our opening reception on Sunday, November 19, 2017 from 1-4 pm. Work will be on view daily from 11am-3pm till December 24th, 2017.

Art makes a unique gift that can be treasured for a lifetime. Also, your gift helps support this fine institution, which is a gift to so many.

Members are invited to enter two original works to be exhibited in a festive holiday setting.

The Holiday show will include a special Small Works Fundraising Exhibition**.

I’ll be painting. Some paintings you could take to decorate your home, office or to gift someone special. Unfortunately, this is going to be our last chance to meet this year before I leave to UK for my exhibition. So, come by, say ‘Hello’, and have a cup of coffee.

Arts & Economic Prosperity 5, the most comprehensive study of its kind ever conducted in the United States, was conducted by Americans for the Arts, the nation’s leading nonprofit organization for advancing the arts and arts education.

ArtPride New Jersey, the state’s largest cross-discipline arts service organization, worked with Americans for the Arts and local partners to examine the financial power of the state’s cultural community.

Listen to the village’s top young adult performing groups, talk to artists in the audience, and spend a beautiful night under the stars! Genres include a cappella, rock, pop, and blues music.
