Enjoy the finest that regional craft breweries Brix City and Alementary have to offer together with delicious food in a historic village. Relax to music by Long Hill String Band and thrill to Mott’s Artillery demonstrations in The Meadow. Tour three 18th century houses, barn and outkitchen, and stroll the grounds of Historic New Bridge Landing in River Edge where Washington, Lafayette, and, of course, the Baron once walked.

Friedrich Wilhelm August Heinrich Ferdinand Steuben, also referred to as Baron von Steuben, was a Prussian and later an American military officer. He served as Inspector General and a Major General of the Continental Army during the American Revolutionary War. He is credited with being one of the fathers of the Continental Army in teaching them the essentials of military drills, tactics, and disciplines. He wrote Regulations for the Order and Discipline of the Troops of the United States, the book that served as the standard United States drill manual until the War of 1812. He served as General George Washington’s chief of staff in the final years of the war.

Help us raise funds for a Hall of History Museum celebrating Bergen County’s storied past. Family-friendly event, games for kids. Book sale. No rain date. Free parking.

“Distilleries in New Jersey are contributing to a sense of place in New Jersey,” said Christina Cavaliere, an assistant professor of hospitality and tourism management at Stockton, in Galloway.

She said the national trend contributes to other industries, including hospitality and agriculture, according to a statement from the university.

If the terms ‘brewery owner’ or ‘head brewer’ have you picturing a guy with a big beard, think again.

Women are holding their own in the craft beer industry — though they’re still definitely in the minority — and the Garden State is no exception.

According to the Brewers Association, a national trade group, women make up about 25 percent of those who describe themselves as weekly craft beer drinkers.

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – Stone Brewing is breaking new ground by becoming the first to try making beer using water that “comes from the toilet.”

On Thursday, at the Stone Brewing location at Liberty Station, San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer was among the first to drink the Full Circle Pale Ale.

Stone Brewing Senior Manager of Brewing and Innovation Steve Gonzalez created the beer that uses recycled water, and it ended up being one of his favorites.

He was skeptical, at first, to brew it with recycled water from the Pure Water San Diego program. Now, Gonzalez said, “Among the pale ales that I’ve made, it’s probably in the top three.”

After taking a drink, Faulconer called the beer “delicious.”

Ridgewood NJ, Two Bergen County residents Joe Delcalzo and Peter Reuther opened the county’s first Brewery, Brix City Brewing, in Little Ferry last month.Due to the small production size of our Brewery we are only on tap at a few bars and restaurants in the area. Make sure to call ahead, as many restaurants and bars rotate taps the beer is sold at . In Ridgewood the Office Beer Bar & Grill  sell the beer.

Nestled in the borough of Little Ferry, Brix City Brewing is one of the newest craft breweries to hit the beer scene in New Jersey. Brix City Brewing is dedicated to bold styled beers that showcase intense flavor profiles and the highest quality ingredients. We make the beer we enjoy drinking, so hopefully you do too.

In 2010, co-founder Pete left the Army after serving in the infantry for four years, two of which were spent in Germany where he began to appreciate the many different styles of beer. Upon his honorable discharge, he was unsure of what he was going to do with his life. At the same time, fellow co-founder Joe was attending college as an accounting major while working part time, also unsure about what he would be doing in the future.

The two men had been friends since high school and both shared a passion for beer. They would soon buy a home brew kit, and before you knew it they were knee deep in the craft brewing world, most of their free time from that point on was spent brewing (and drinking for that matter). Before long, the two had the crazy idea that they could make this wonderful hobby a career and they began developing the brewery that would unfold to be Brix City Brewing.

Beer may be good for the brain

SEPTEMBER 30, 2014    LAST UPDATED: TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 30, 2014, 1:21 AM
THE RECORD

Having a brewski just might be good for your brain

A new study suggests that an element in beer may be good for your brain.

Scientists discovered that xanthohumol, an ingredient in beer, seems to help cognitive function in young mice.

Xanthohumol did not have the same impact on older mice, according to the study, whose results were published this month in Behavioral Brain Research.

The scientists noted that the dose they gave the mice was quite high. A human would have to drink 2,000 liters of beer a day to equal what the mice consumed.
