Bergen Sheriff Anthony Cureton: “It is important for Residents to feel safe practicing their respective faiths”

Hackensack NJ,  after a bomb scare at a Fair lawn Synagogue,  Sheriff Anthony Cureton held a security briefing to discuss public safety precautions for the upcoming Jewish High Holy (Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur) Season. Representatives from the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, local police chiefs and members of the Jewish community were present as Rabbi Joel Friedman offered an overview of traditions and expectations for the Jewish High Holy Season. The safety and security of all Bergen County residents was the top priority. It is important for residents to feel safe practicing their respective faiths in our community.

STATEMENT FROM BERGEN SHERIFF ANTHONY CURETON ON MASS SHOOTINGS IN EL PASO, TEXAS AND DAYTON, OHIO

HACKENSACK NJ, I am deeply disturbed and saddened, yet again, by two horrific mass shootings gripping our nation this weekend in El Paso, Texas and Dayton, Ohio. My heart goes out to the families grieving from this tragedy and I am thankful for the heroic efforts taken by local first responders and law enforcement who neutralized both situations, preventing even further loss of life.
