Newark NJ, the Archdiocese of Newark will gather to celebrate and honor the dedication and sacrifices of New Jersey’s law enforcement personnel during the 31st Annual Blue Mass on Thursday, Nov. 7, at 10 a.m. at the Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart in Newark. This event, led by Cardinal Joseph W. Tobin, C.Ss.R., Archbishop of Newark, invites officers, families, and community members of all faiths to reflect on the service and bravery of police officers across federal, state, county, and municipal levels.

Cardinal Tobin to Ordain 4 New Priests, 2 New Deacons for Archdiocese of Newark

Newark NJ, Cardinal Joseph W. Tobin, C.Ss.R., Archbishop of Newark, will ordain four men to the priesthood during the Rite of Ordination on Saturday, May 27, at 10 a.m. in Newark’s Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart. Cardinal Tobin will also ordain two transitional deacons during a separate ordination at the Cathedral Basilica on Sunday, May 21, at noon.

The Archdiocese of Newark & New Jersey Reentry Corporation Announce Addiction Treatment Referral Program

Jersey City Nj,  The New Jersey Reentry Corporation (NJRC) and the Archdiocese of Newark announce the establishment of an addiction treatment referral program for individuals suffering from acute opiate addiction, effective July 1, 2023. The Archdiocese and NJRC signed a memorandum of understanding to acknowledge the collaborative relationship and coordinate and integrate services and care for adults with substance use disorders.

Cardinal Tobin Issues Statement Regarding Supreme Court Decision to overturn the 1973 decision that legalized abortion nationwide

Newark Nj, Cardinal Joseph W. Tobin, C.Ss.R, Archbishop of Newark, has issued a statement in response to the decision of the United States Supreme Court decision to overturn the 1973 decision that legalized abortion nationwide.

In supporting the decision, Cardinal Tobin stated, “The Catholic Church teaches that all human life is sacred, from conception to natural death” and he voiced the Church’s opposition to “the many threats to human life and dignity evident in contemporary society.”

Cardinal Tobin acknowledged that this is a deeply controversial ruling, stating, “We recognize that a significant number of our fellow citizens are angered by this decision of our nation’s highest Court,” and calling for an ongoing respectful dialogue between Americans.
