Elmwood Park NJ , a stubborn, multiple-alarm fire broke out on Sunday afternoon, April 27, devastating several structures on Phillip Avenue, just east of River Drive.
Elmwood Park NJ, atwo-vehicle collision on Wednesday, February 5, in the 200 block of eastbound Broadway led to a full road closure while emergency crews worked to rescue a trapped driver from an overturned vehicle.
Elmwood Park NJ, a Friday night, 09/22, single vehicle crash at the intersection of Broadway and Mola Boulevard in Elmwood Park wiped out a utility pole and a fire hydrant. The older model SUV was likely totaled in the crash as well. Elmwood Park Police , Fire Department, EMS, and DPW units responded to the incident. PSE&G’s Electric Division was summoned to deal with the downed utility pole. A hydraulic lift tow truck removed the wreckage. The vehicle’s driver refused medical attention.
Clifton NJ, a New Jersey State Police helicopter rescued two (2) City of Clifton firefighters from a small rescue boat after the boat accidentally floated over the Dundee Dam while attempting to rescue several construction workers whose boat became stuck on top of the same dam. The incident unfolded late Wednesday afternoon, 06/28, and brought emergency services resources from multiple municipalities in Bergen & Passaic Counties. Firefighters from Elmwood Park and Garfield deployed boats into the Passaic River and rescued the stranded construction workers and one (1) Clifton firefighter, but the two (2) other Clifton firefighters were stuck until the helicopter arrived. No serious injures were reported in connection with the incident.
Elmwood Park NJ, a minivan veered off of Mola Boulevard southbound in Elmwood Park and slammed into a vacant storefront late Sunday morning, 10/02. The vehicle’s driver was uninjured in the mishap and no structural damage was inflicted on the building. A flatbed tow truck removed the wreckage from the scene. Elmwood Park Police and Elmwood Park Fire Department responded to the incident.

Fair Lawn NJ, a two alarm fire damaged a Fair Lawn residence Wednesday afternoon. The Fair Lawn Fire Department was dispatched to a report of a house fire on the three block of 32nd St. at 5:38 PM. Upon arrival, fire was found on the exterior of the building.
Elmwood Park NJ, an Infiniti SUV crashed through the storefront of an Elmwood Park furniture store shortly after 8:30 PM on Saturday, 03/19, and finally came to a stop once all 4 wheels of the vehicle were firmly on the store’s showroom floor. The vehicle’s adult female driver was uninjured, as were several store employees and customers who were inside at the time. Elmwood Park Police and Elmwood Park Fire Department personnel & vehicles responded to the incident, which occurred in the 100 block of Broadway, Elmwood Park. Damage was limited to the store’s glass & aluminum façade. A tow truck driver backed the vehicle out of the store to facilitate its removal from the scene by his flatbed. No word at the scene as to what may have triggered the mishap.
Saddle Brook NJ, the adult female driver of a 4-door Acura TLX sedan was injured on Sunday afternoon, 02/20, when her vehicle crashed into residential structure located in the 300 block of Schepis Avenue, in Saddle Brook. Saddle Brook Fire Department, Saddle Brook Police, Saddle Brook EMS, Saddle Brook OEM, Elmwood Park Fire Department, and Hackensack Fire Department personnel and equipment responded to the incident. The victim sustained a non-life threatening injury and was transported by ambulance to Hackensack University Medical Center’s main campus. A construction sub-code official from the Township of Saddle Brook also responded to the scene. No information was provided by police at the scene as to what caused the driver to lose control and crash her vehicle.
Elmwood Park NJ, the Bergen County Regional SWAT Team was assembled to assist Elmwood Park Police subdue an adult male who had threatened two (2) Elmwood Park police officers with a knife after they attempted to enter his home for purposes of performing a requested welfare check on Saturday afternoon, 05/08. Following a hours long stand off, SWAT Team personnel stormed the man’s residence after deploying several tear gas canisters, and seized him without further incident. Elmwood Park Fire Department units were also at the scene, along with multiple BLS and ALS emergency medical service units. The Bergen County Sheriff’s Office assisted Elmwood Park Police with traffic and crowd control.
Elmwood Park NJ, a mother and her two (2) year old child were rescued from the icy Passaic River by Elmwood Park Police officers and Elmwood Park firefighters. Both mother and child were rushed by ambulances to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center in Paterson. No details were immediately available as to how the victims wound up in the water. Numerous area public safety agencies rushed to assist Elmwood Park emergency responders.
Elmwood Park NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of ROBERT E. DAUBENBERGER (DOB: 06/16/1962; single; unemployed) of 69 Lincoln Avenue, Elmwood Park, NJ on charges of Theft By Deception, Falsifying Records, and Forgery. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Robert Anzilotti and the Elmwood Park Police Department under the direction of Chief Michael Foligno.
Fair Lawn NJ, Personnel from Fair Lawn Fire Department, the Fair Lawn Heavy Rescue Squad, and Elmwood Park Fire Department deployed a small boat to rescue the occupants of a 4-door sedan who became trapped in their vehicle by rising flood waters late Saturday afternoon, 08/11. The incident occurred on eastbound Broadway, under the NJ Transit railroad trestle, Fair Lawn shortly after 5 PM. All occupants were safely removed from the car and refused medical aid. A tow truck removed the soaked vehicle from the roadway.
