Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood Professional Firefighters FMBA Local 47 would like to congratulate and welcome Firefighter Connor McGuire to the department this week. Firefighter McGuire is a lifelong Ridgewood resident and Ridgewood High School graduate, and has been a volunteer firefighter since 2022, , responding to numerous fires, and holds both Firefighter 1 and Firefighter 2 certifications. He comes to the Ridgewood Fire Department with the fire academy already completed and is ready to jump right into things with us.

Ridgewood Fire Department Named a 2024 Grant Recipient for the Purchase of Four Thermal Imaging Camera Kits

Ridgewood NJ, the Ridgewood Fire Department has been named a 2024 grant recipient by Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation, receiving $29,905 for the purchase of four thermal imaging camera kits.
“We are honored to be chosen by the Foundation for this grant, which will fulfill a critical need in our department,” said Fire Chief John Judge. “Thermal imaging cameras allow firefighters to quickly detect heat signatures and provide visibility in dark and/or smoke-filled environments, locating fire and victims quickly, and identifying hotspots that might reignite.”

Four Surprise Visitors Kicked off Read Across America at Ridgewood Elementary Schools!

Ridgewood NJ, four surprise visitors kicked off Read Across America at our elementary schools! Fire Chief John Judge, Police Chief Forest Lyons, Village Mayor Paul Vagianos and Village Manager Keith Kazmark shared beloved books like “Tacky the Penguin” and “Officer Buckle and Gloria” with inquisitive kindergarten and first grade students, who followed up with insightful observations and questions.
