Ridgewood NJ, the Ridgewood Fire Department has been named a 2024 grant recipient by Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation, receiving $29,905 for the purchase of four thermal imaging camera kits.
“We are honored to be chosen by the Foundation for this grant, which will fulfill a critical need in our department,” said Fire Chief John Judge. “Thermal imaging cameras allow firefighters to quickly detect heat signatures and provide visibility in dark and/or smoke-filled environments, locating fire and victims quickly, and identifying hotspots that might reignite.”
Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation was founded in 2005 in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Firehouse Subs founders, Chris Sorensen and Robin Sorensen, traveled to Mississippi where they fed first responders as well as survivors. As they traveled back to Florida exhausted and exhilarated, they knew we could do more and the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation was born.
