Resumption of Indoor Dining Effective Friday, September 4

Ridgewood NJ, Governor Phil Murphy today signed Executive Order No. 183, which establishes rules for the resumption of indoor dining on Friday, September 4 at 6:00 a.m., provided businesses comply with the health and safety standards issued by the Department of Health. The Governor’s Executive Order also contains requirements for movie theaters and other indoor entertainment businesses, where the number of patrons for a performance will be limited to 25 percent capacity, up to a maximum of 150 people.  The Governor’s Order also increases the limits for indoor gatherings that are religious services or celebrations, political activities, wedding ceremonies, funerals, or memorial services to 25 percent capacity with a maximum of 150 people, an increase from the current limit of 25 percent capacity with a maximum of 100 people. Other indoor gatherings, including house parties, remain at the limit of 25 percent capacity with a maximum of 25 people.

Governor Murphy Has Turned His Back on the Restaurant Industry

Ridgewood NJ, The 10th District Legislators are echoing the sentiments of restaurant owners who feel Governor Murphy has turned his back on an industry hit hardest because of his extended shutdowns.

Senator Jim Holzapfel and Assemblymen Greg McGuckin and John Catalano are calling out the Governor for dragging his feet and ignoring the cries of the restaurant industry while avoiding a necessary discussion with the New Jersey Restaurant Association on a proper reopening date for indoor dining.

Democrats Block Attempt to Open Restaurants for Indoor Dining

Ridgewood NJ, frustrated by the Governor’s refusal to loosen restrictions on restaurants for indoor dining, Senator Joe Pennacchio today proposed legislative action to address the stalemate that is suffocating the state economy.

Pennacchio implored the Senate to adopt an amendment to S-766 to allow restaurants to follow appropriate precautions and open their doors to indoor customers immediately.

Restaurants Will Close Permanently Without Some Reopening of Indoor Dining

Ridgewood NJ, Senator Anthony M. Bucco warned that restaurants across New Jersey that have suffered steep economic losses since March will soon go out of business permanently if they are not allowed to reopen their dining rooms or provided direct financial support from the State’s share of billions in unspent CARES Act funding.

Bergen blasts Murphy for setting restaurants back, says checks and balances needed in New Jersey government

Trenton NJ,  Gov. Phil Murphy announced that restaurants could not reopen on Thursday, July 2, and instead declared that indoor dining is prohibited indefinitely. Assemblyman Brian Bergen is calling out Murphy for being inconsiderate of the costs of running a business.

Governor Murphy Reneges on Indoor Dining after He Dines Indoors

Ridgewood NJ, Governor Murphy once again , “Do as I say, not as I do” behavior is not leadership. The constant  hypocrisy adds to the public confusion and lack of trust. Clearly we are not “all in this together” .

Thursday was supposed to be the reopen date for indoor dining but according to Governor Phil Murphy It won’t happen. On Tuesday the Governor reversed his decision from June 26th .

Trenton NJ, The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), the leading small business association in New Jersey with thousands of members in the state, said that Governor Murphy’s delay in allowing limited indoor dining is putting many restaurants in a precarious financial position and threatens the existence of those small businesses and their employee’s jobs. Surrounding states have moved much more quickly to allow limited and safe indoor dining, even if it required regional decisions based on health metrics

Judge Grants injunction preventing Asbury Park from implementing its resolution allowing indoor dining

Asbury Park NJ, Late Friday afternoon, a superior court judge granted Governor Phil Murphy’s request for a preliminary injunction preventing Asbury Park from implementing its resolution allowing indoor dining beginning Monday. This reinforces the state’s position that indoor  dining is prohibited by pandemic-related executive orders.
