Washington DC, on Wednesday, a bipartisan group of senators reignited efforts to ban members of Congress from trading stocks. “Congress should not be here to make a buck,” said Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Mo., at a Capitol Hill press conference. “There is no reason why members of Congress ought to be profiting off of the information that only they get.”

Crypto Exchange Coinbase facing an SEC investigation

Ridgewood NJ, Coinbase is facing an investigation from the US SEC over whether it allowed users to trade unregistered securities. The SEC started taking a closer look at the exchange after it added over 100 additional tokens to its platform. Coinbase is confident that its diligence process keeps securities off its platform. The investigation is separate from the SEC’s case against Coinbase’s former product manager and two other people for insider trading.

Newark NJ, the former head of corporate communications for a biopharmaceutical company today admitted her role in an insider trading scheme, U.S. Attorney Philip R. Sellinger announced.

Lauren S. Wood, 33, of Washington, D.C., pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge John Michael Vazquez to an information charging her with securities fraud. Stemming from the same alleged conduct, Usama Malik, also of Washington, D.C., was previously charged in a three-count indictment with insider trading, securities fraud, and securities fraud conspiracy.
