Ridgewood NJ, NFIB’s Small Business Optimism Index decreased 0.1 point in November to 90.6, which marks the 23rd consecutive month below the 50-year average of 98. Twenty-two percent of owners reported that inflation was their single most important problem in operating their business, unchanged from October but 10 points lower than this time last year.

As COVID Restrictions Lift New Jersey Small Businesses Gain Optimism

Ridgewood NJ, the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), is more optimistic about the Garden State’s re-opening and the future of small business in the state. This comes after Governor Murphy’s announcement that because of new guidelines from the CDC, more restrictions will be lifted to help New Jersey’s small businesses continue to recover from the health and economic crisis and pandemic.

Governor Murphy Imposes New Restrictions on Small Businesses

Ridgewood NJ, Governor Phil Murphy announced additional restrictions on businesses saying they are necessary due to recent state data on COVID-19. Restaurants, bars and casinos, clubs, and lounges must close at 10 p.m., and bar seating will no longer be allowed. The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) in New Jersey, which represents thousands of small businesses in the state, reacted to that news. Ridgewood NJ,  Companion bills introduced today in the New Jersey Assembly and Senate that provide immunity to businesses that act in good faith and follow safety protocols during the state’s economic reopening will help ensure the survival of many small businesses. NFIB, an association representing thousands of small businesses across New Jersey, supports this legislation because innocent business owners who did all that was expected of them can lose their business due simply to the high cost of a legal defense.

80% of Small Business are Still Waiting for Financial Assistance Loans

Ridgewood NJ, The NFIB Research Center released a survey today on the small business loan programs. Small business owners were asked about the Paycheck Protection Program and the Economic Injury Disaster Loan on April 17, the day after the programs ran out of money. About 20% of submitted applications have been fully processed with funds deposited in the borrower’s account, but 80% of respondents said they are still waiting, and many do not know where they are in the application process.

Ridgewood NJ, Small business Optimism soared in December by the most since 1980 as expectations about the economy’s prospects improved dramatically in the aftermath of the Trump election.

The National Federation of Independent Business gauge jumps to 105.8 in month after presidential election and expectations for business conditions are highest since 2002

The National Federation of Independent Business’s (NFIB) index jumped 7.4 points last month to 105.8, the highest since the end of 2004, from 98.4. While seven of the 10 components increased in December, 73 percent of the monthly advance was due to more upbeat views about the outlook for sales and the economy, the Washington-based group said.

“Congressman Garrett has consistently stood up for New Jersey small businesses throughout his career,” said NFIB National Political Director Sharon Sussin. “This past Congress, he was with small business owners on every critical vote. He is working to reduce the regulatory burden, lower taxes, and repeal Obamacare. He deserves to be re-elected so he can continue to work for limited government that frees small businesses to succeed.”

Hackettstown Mayor Maria DiGiovanni joined Garrett for a business walk-through in Hackettstown.

“Scott Garrett understands the importance that small businesses play in our community,” said DiGiovanni. “Hackettstown thrives because of our small business community, and we depend on champions in Washington like Scott Garrett who fight for them every day.”

Garrett qualified for an endorsement from the NFIB by achieving a high rating on votes scored in the current Congress. The Congressman earned 100 percent on the 14 votes NFIB has monitored so far. The list of the votes is available here.
