Democrat Breaks Ranks, Van Drew Opposes Impeachment

Jim Arakelian

Trenton NJ, This lawmaker is one of the few House Democrats against the impeachment inquiry. He says he’s on the ‘right side of history.’

Freshman Rep. Jeff Van Drew, D-N.J., is one of only a handful of House Democrats to oppose the impeachment inquiry against President Donald Trump and he’s not shy about explaining why.

His opinion has won public praise from Trump, angered progressive groups and sparked an effort to recruit a primary challenger to take him on. “Everybody says, ‘Be on the right side of history’ — I think the right side of history is not to impeach,” Van Drew said.

WHY NOTHING PERMANENTLY STICKS TO TEFLON DONALD

Trump

Stop looking at Trump and look where Trump is looking. It’s All About the ‘Flair’

By Peter Rosenberger

When it comes to Trump, it’s all about Flair.

For several years, the media and the Washington establishment have railed against Donald Trump with little success. Porn stars, special counsel, duplicitous lawyers, celebrities—they’ve all taken him on to no avail. It appears they really don’t grasp the nature of Donald Trump.

If you want to understand Donald Trump, you don’t have to look much further than professional wrestling superstar, Ric Flair. Flamboyant, even by professional wrestling standards, Ric Flair maintained an astonishing career and achieved a lengthy list of championships and successes. Adopting the nickname, “Nature Boy,” Ric Flair emerged in the 1970s as a fan favorite. With flowing blonde hair and swagger, he paraded in front of thousands wearing only an industrial speedo, boots, and often a floor-length feather boa robe.

Washington DC, The US Senate overwhelmingly passed a criminal justice reform bill backed and promoted by President Trump on Tuesday night. The First Step Act passed on a vote of 87 to 12, with dozens of Republicans joining all the Democratic senators in approving the bill.

Congressmen Tom Reed (NY-23) and Josh Gottheimer (NJ-05), Co-Chairs of the bipartisan Problem Solvers Caucus, released to the following statement:
“The Problem Solvers Caucus was proud to put our full weight behind the FIRST Step Act more than six months ago. This bill betters our communities, improves the lives of thousands and saves taxpayers money. Congress must continue to craft and pass more bipartisan legislation like the FIRST Step Act.”

Trump congratulated the Senate in a tweet soon after it passed , “America is the greatest Country in the world and my job is to fight for ALL citizens, even those who have made mistakes. Congratulations to the Senate on the bi-partisan passing of a historic Criminal Justice Reform Bill,” he tweeted. He went on , “This will keep our communities safer, and provide hope and a second chance, to those who earn it. In addition to everything else, billions of dollars will be saved. I look forward to signing this into law!”

The bill will make sweeping changes to the criminal justice system if signed into law, including making it easier for some prisoners to earn early release to halfway houses and protecting first-time offenders from mandatory minimum sentences.

Jared Kushner said in a USA Today editorial  in November , “The administration also worked with Congress to draft the FIRST STEP Act, legislation which seeks to strengthen recidivism reduction and evidence-based reentry programs for inmates in federal prisons. We continue to work with the law enforcement and faith and business communities to find ways to get people leaving prison properly reintegrated into society.”

Winning the Trade War Doesn’t Mean Victory

Barring unforeseen circumstances, the United States will likely win the trade war with China. However, the end result may not be as great for the United States as President Trump and his supporters may hope.

When all is said and done, the United States will likely come out of this trade war as the unanimous victor. Economically, China simply cannot keep up with the United States when it comes to handling tariffs. Although both countries may see their exports suffer, the results for China will be much worse, given that 14% of the Chinese economy is dependent on exports to the US, compared to just 4% of the US economy that is dependent on exports to China. This trade imbalance will cause the Chinese economy a lot more pain than what their counter tariffs can possibly inflict on the United States. If China doesn’t take the necessary steps to end this trade war, their economy will suffer massively in comparison to the United States. Continue reading Winning the Trade War Doesn’t Mean Victory

The Middle-class is Back !

Ridgewood NJ, for the first time since 1999 the median U.S. household earned $61,372 last year, meaning half of the families in the country brought in more income than this and half earned less. Crossing the $61,000 mark signals the American middle-class may have finally earned more than it did in 1999, although the Census Bureau cautions that median income last year was not statistically different from 1999 or 2007.

Middle-class income rose to the highest recorded levels in 2017 and the national poverty rate declined as the benefits of the strong economy lifted the fortunes of more Americans, the U.S. Census reported Wednesday.

Middle-class household income has been rising steadily in recent years as the economy rebounded from the deep recession . After a period of economic stagnation millions of Americans have found jobs again.

Overall, just over half of American adults were in the middle class in 2016. That’s up slightly from 2011, but down from 61% in 1971. The Census Bureau also reported that the U.S. poverty rate declined modestly to 12.3 percent, the lowest level in years and a sign the economic devastation from the Great Recession is subsiding.
