Clinton Avenue Pedestrian Safety Issues Scheduled for Upcoming Discussion By Ridgewood Village Council Members

Ridgewood NJ,  Village Council members will reportedly discuss the longstanding pedestrian safety issues on Clinton Avenue during their scheduled February 7th Work Session. The safety issues are related to school children walking in the street on their way to and from the nearby Ridge Elementary School. Currently, there are no public sidewalks on Clinton Avenue.

Parents Voice Frustration Over Ridgewood School District Staffing Shortages

Ridgewood NJ, Staffing shortages, particularly aides and substitutes, have become a major issue for public schools statewide as well as in Ridgewood . The Ridgewood Board of Education has discussed strategies to attract applicants for these positions.

Large Tree Topples Into a Parking lot of the Ridge Elementary School Damaging Multiple Vehicles

Ridgewood NJ, Multiple vehicles were damaged on Thursday afternoon, 07/08, when a large tree toppled into a parking lot of the Ridge Elementary School on West Ridgewood Avenue, Ridgewood. Typically, the parking lot would be empty at this time of year. However, the school building was being used to house a summer enrichment program, and the lot was relatively full of vehicles belonging to the parents of participants who were about to be dismissed from the program for the day. Fortunately, no injuries were reported as there was no one was in the lot when the tree toppled. A Ridgewood Police patrol officer was dispatched to process property damage reports, and to assist the owners of lightly damaged vehicles in removing them from the parking lot.

Remote Learning Brings a New Set of Issues for COVID at Ridgewood Schools

Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood schools reported the following Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases for the week ending January 8, 2021.

Four individuals at Ridgewood High School; these cases are of known origin.
Three individuals at Benjamin Franklin Middle School; one case is of known origin and two cases are of unknown origin.
One individual at George Washington Middle School; this case is of known origin.
One individual at Ridge Elementary School; this case is of known origin.

The Village Health Department has determined no close contacts in school were found for all of the cases; therefore, only the individuals and family members are quarantined.

Please remember, during this time of remote learning, if a family member becomes symptomatic or tests positive, please communicate with your school nurse.
