WOLF: Tawdry details of Obamacare

White House quietly exempts pampered politicos

By Dr. Milton R. Wolf
The Washington Times

If you would like to know what the White House really thinks of Obamacare, there’s an easy way. Look past its press releases. Ignore its promises. Forget its talking points. Instead, simply witness for yourself the outrageous way the White House protects its best friends from Obamacare.

Last year, we learned that the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) had granted 111 waivers to protect a lucky few from the onerous regulations of the new national health care overhaul. That number quickly and quietly climbed to 222, and last week we learned that the number of Obamacare privileged escapes has skyrocketed to 733.

Among the fortunate is a who’s who list of unions, businesses and even several cities and four states (Massachusetts, New Jersey, Ohio and Tennessee) but none of the friends of Barack feature as prominently as the Service Employees International Union (SEIU).

How can you get your own free pass from Obamacare? Maybe you can just donate $27 million to President Obama‘s campaign efforts. That’s what Andy Stern did as president of SEIU in 2008. He has been the most frequent guest at Mr. Obama‘s White House.

>Do you have a bad case of the winter blues?

Do you have a bad case of the winter blues? It seems when those cold winter days get shorter, colder and darker, many people are over whelmed by a sense of melancholy or depression . If so, you’re not alone and data suggests that Twenty percent of the people in the United States react to the change of seasons with a type of depression called Seasonal Affective Disorder, or SAD for short. Symptoms typically arise in the fall and winter months, but those who are not exposed to sunlight during the day may experience SAD all year long.

I have detailed some simple steps to take to alleviate some of the symptoms ,obviously if symptoms persist you should see a doctor.

>Readers ask Ridgewood Residents for Valley in Friday’s Ridgewood News Ad why hide you affiliation with Valley ?

>Readers ask Ridgewood Residents for Valley in Friday’s Ridgewood News Ad why hide you affiliation with Valley ?

Ridgewood NJ- A full page ad running in the Ridgewood News, placed by the group Ridgewood Residents for Valley is outrageous and disingenuous. Don’t be fooled Ridgewood. The vast majority of these people have a financial interest in Valley. They are Valley employees, vista members, workers, etc. Go through the names and let’s start outing them on this blog!

There is a  financial interest for  Dr Wesson or any employee of Valley supporting this cause. Wesson isn’t making his living peddling 100% vegetable oil you know! Medical insurance, referrals, patients, hospital. Obviously Valley employees have an interest in this cause.

The Ridgewood News Ad is comprised of people who represent themselves as Ridgewood residents with no to allegiance to any party in this issue. By not disclosing their employer as Valley, hiding their full names or omitting “Dr.” from their name, they attempt to suggest no Valley affiliation. Simply not true.

Anne Raftery Denyeau. Vice President, Human Resources, Valley Health System

Mr. & Mrs. J. Brennan Mrs. Brennan longtime employee Valley Hospital

Tom & Heidi Ahlborn Dr. Ahlborn I presume? Yes! Tom & Heidi are also Valley Vista members.

Tracy Carbone, MD. OOOPS. VALLEYHEALTH.

Andrea Aluisi. RN, Valley Hospital

DR’s Baddoura (plural)

BARCLAY – let’s not go there again. When you get to the letter “D” remember Detrick is Barclay, too.

Dr. Becker of Valley? Yes it is!

Mr. Bolger, is that you?

E,f ,g h, I , j. Bored with all these Valley Dolls let me skip towards the end of the alphabet maybe something different.

Michael & Michele Wesson yes that would be Dr. Michael Wesson employed by Valley Hospital (Valley Radiation Oncology) and his wife who also has Valley connections.

Oh well. Anyone care to help fill in the blanks please do.These people should really fully identify themselves and their connection to Valley before engaging in this deception.

>The ordinance that was adopted by our Village elected officials, Pfund at the helm, was designed exclusively for Valley Hospital to pursue its expansion goals.

The ordinance that was adopted by our Village elected officials, Pfund at the helm, was designed exclusively for Valley Hospital to pursue its expansion goals. An ordinance designed to permit third party changes to the Village Master Plan is discriminatory in nature, adopted just for Valley and as it is cost prohibitive for regular residents. First and foremost, this ordinance must be removed. Also, Valley paid the bills for those third party changes to to be adopted meaning indirectly, employees of the VOR were being compensated by Valley Hospital. How could they possibly be impartial?

HUMC money behind the lawsuit? No. the planning board only think back to a night in June when hundreds of angry residents were locked out of GW while Valley Officials stood on the GW steps directing OUR Village Police officers to let only Valley people in.

This is a tactic, not to find out who is funding since the Planning Board knows that, but rather to calculate how much money CRR might have and how long to drag out before CRR can no longer sustain the suit. Don’t let that happen! PEOPLE: DONATE TODAY!!!!

>Valley Renewal : The obscenity of the demand for CCR donor information illustrates how far Village "leadership" is removed from our traditional Village values.

>Valley Renewal : The obscenity of the demand for CCR donor information illustrates how far Village “leadership” is removed from our traditional Village values.

There is no need to bother with an organization’s ranks when leaders and mission statements are in plain view. If Attorney Price wanted to see Villagers who support the CCR or oppose the expansion, she might have chosen the outside of the front door at GW as the place to stick her head that night. She would have seen hardworking taxpayers and property owners who don’t want a damn regional hospital built in their back yard.

Perhaps someone on the Village Council might have courage to step up and end this nonsense. Alternatively, does any one on the Planning board have a shred of decency (at long last)?

Pro-renewal or anti-expansion, our collective interest is to toss dithering attorneys from our payroll. One must lack moral fiber or suffer extreme myopia not to see that even if the expansion were a good thing, cheap and minor tactical shots are far outweighed by the pain and further division caused to fellow Villagers. With the Village in financial straits, we don’t need attorneys wasting our effort, time and money on frivolities.

Ultimately, however, Ms. Price reveals herself as little more than a flailing shrill. Real responsibility rests with elected and appointed officials who allowed the process to disemble. Enough already — if its not clear there are a substantial number of Villagers who are against this expansion, put the issue to a vote and let us see what the majority want to do.

School board president Gene Maeroff says he knows of a district where nepotism hiring is out of control.

That place would be Edison, he says, his own district, one of many that he says has a “notorious” reputation for hiring based on connections. (Applebaum and Lee, The Star-Ledger)

>Village Planning Board goes on “Witch Hunt” against Concerned Residents of Ridgewood supporters
the staff of the Ridgewood blog

Ridgewood NJ- Once again the Village Planning Board is attempting to undermine the citizenry of Ridgewood and show blatant disregard for the hundreds of residents who have showed up at countless meetings to voice their concerns over the Vally Hospital expansion ie “Renewal” .

In another slap in the face to taxpayers and residents the planning board is attempting to gain knowledge of the contributors to the Concerned Residents of Ridgewood group that is currently engaging in a lawsuit against the Valley Hospital expansion. This grass roots organisation has continued to come under attack because its dares to challenge many of the assumptions of the “Valley Renewal” .

It looks to us like the Village Planning Board is engaging in a “witch hunt” in a attempt to quell the opposition, and perhaps take out revenge on Concerned Residents of Ridgewood supporters .

>Village Council Reaches New Parking Solution

>Village Council Reaches New Parking Solution
the staff of the Ridgewood blog

Ridgewood NJ – The Village Council has finally come to a decision on new parking fee’s for the CBD or Central Business District shopping area. The council has agreed to adjust the parking fee structure in Ridgewood. The new parking fee’s will take effect as soon as new signs are made.

The plan keeps street parking at the current 50 cents an hour, but reduces the cost in municipal lots to the old rate of 25 cents per hour. Hours of enforcement will also remain the same, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.There will be no more free parking in municipal lots on Saturdays.

The council also rolled out a A new innovation to be implemented by the village. the UP System or Unlimited Parking System, The UP System will allow a commuter, resident or downtown employee to purchase a “placard” to place on their rear view mirror that permits them to park in certain areas where there is a meter. The proposed parking pass would tentatively cost $1,300 per year.
Details still need to be worked out.

>Family Brings Civil Rights Claim Against Ridgewood BOE for Sexual Orientation Based Bullying

>Family Brings Civil Rights Claim Against Ridgewood BOE for Sexual Orientation Based Bullying

January 26, 2011

The Case
The complaint, which was filed Jan. 5, claims that 16-year old Matthew Zimmer – represented by his father, David – faced several months of bullying and improper treatment from peers and staff at Ridgewood High School (RHS) due to his sexual orientation.

Included in the Division of Civil Rights’ documentation of the case, Zimmer claimed examples of bullying occurred, including but not limited to:

A health teacher asking during class time if he was “out of the closet” in addition to several other discriminatory comments. The teacher is also alleged to have said to the class that being gay was “caused by having abnormal genes.”

Several students putting sticky notes on his backpack with words like “fat fag” and, at least one student sending a pornographic Facebook message.

Graffiti spelling the words “gay must die” being discovered in the school’s cafeteria. Zimmer said he and his friends saw the graffiti while they were sitting at their lunch table.

Zimmer claimed his health deteriorated in early 2010. He gained more than 50 pounds, he said, and by March he withdrew from all courses on the RHS campus except for chorus, based on medical advice. He continued to work toward completing ninth grade by enrolling in classes online, participating in tutoring and home-schooling.

https://www.njpsa.org/agr/news.cfm?newsid=1051

The Internal Investigation

An internal investigation of Matthew’s claims was conducted by two employees of the Ridgewood school district from April through June of 2010, and found that no staff member had committed wrongdoing. The local investigation by the Equal Educational Opportunity (EEO) Officer in conjunction with the Director of Human Resources / Affirmative Action Officer for the district.  According to a report by NorthJersey.com.
The two conducted interviews with 28 individuals, including 21 members of the RHS staff or administration, the district’s physician, and Matthew and his parents. Their findings were submitted to the district on July 13. The family then missed a deadline for an appeal, filing it with the County Superintendent instead of locally.

The Law

The  New Jersey Supreme Court’s decision in L.W. v. Toms River Regional School District189 N.J. 381 (2007) provides a stringent legal standard that is applied in determining if a school district is to be held liable for student-on-student harassment based on sexual or affectional orientation. The Supreme Court held that under the New Jersey Law Against Discrimination (LAD) school districts are liable for such harassment when the school district knew or should have known of the harassment and failed to take actions reasonably calculated to end the mistreatment and offensive conduct.

What’s Next

The Division on Civil Rights investigates every complaint it receives, but only after preliminary investigation is conducted and probable cause can be established, does a second phase of litigation begin. A Finding of Probable Cause does not resolve a civil rights complaint. Rather, it means the State has concluded its preliminary investigation and determined there is sufficient evidence to support a reasonable suspicion that New Jersey’s LAD has been violated. The next step is “conciliation” where the division, the family and the board of education try to work out a settlement. If that doesn’t work, the case goes to trial before an administrative law judge.

The LAD provides that each Respondent found to have committed a violation is subject to a penalty of up to $10,000. The LAD also provides for other remedies, including compensatory damages and injunctive relief, such as changes in the employer’s policies and management/staff training.
