RIDGEWOOD, NJ — The Village of Ridgewood is once again embroiled in controversy over a new bicycle infrastructure project, sparking outrage among residents of the Pleasant Avenue neighborhood. This time, the issue isn’t a “bike lane to nowhere,” but a newly implemented restriction on street parking on South Pleasant Avenue that residents were explicitly told would not happen.

The latest project, spearheaded by Village Engineer Christopher Rutishauser, utilized grant money to create a new bike lane—but in a major development, the project has now effectively banned residents from parking in front of their own homes.

Frayed Outdoor Electric Cord likely cause of a 2-alarm house fire on South Pleasant Avenue, Ridgewood

Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood Fire Chief James Van Goor said that a frayed outdoor electric cord was the likely cause of a 2-alarm house fire at 293 South Pleasant Avenue, Ridgewood late Thursday night, 01/19. No one was injured in the blaze and fast action by the homeowner (using a garden hose) and Ridgewood firefighters kept the fire from spreading beyond the structure’s front porch. A female resident of the home was treated by EMS crews on the scene for exposure to the cold. Ridgewood PD, EMS, and Emergency Services units responded to the incident in support of firefighting efforts.

Ridgewood Nj, Three (3) teenage occupants of a 4-door white Mazda sedan were injured in an early afternoon two (2) vehicle crash at the intersection of Grove Street and South Pleasant Avenue, Ridgewood on Wednesday, 11/23. The Mazda’s female driver lost control of the vehicle after swerving and hit a large tree. Both vehicles involved in the crash were removed from the scene by a flatbed tow truck. All three (3) victims were transported by a Ridgewood EMS ambulance to The Valley Hospital with non life threatening injuries. The adult male driver of the other vehicle involved in the mishap, a Jeep, was uninjured. Ridgewood FD personnel attended to a minor crash related fluid spill. At least three (3) summonses were issued by Ridgewood PD in connection with the incident.
