Ridgewood NJ, the aerial photo is of Route 17 in the 1950’s (?)  of the traffic circles on Route 17 one on Racetrack road on what is now the overpass that bridges from East Saddle River Road to Paramus Road . The traffic circles on 17 were notoriously dangerous and during the 60’s and 70’s several people were run over crossing Route 17 in the area.  The larger circle near Glen Ave had a house in the middle ,but was removed when the ,overpass was built in 1963(?). During a huge flood in 1972 the river changed its course and was later widened to cut down on the flooding and Ridgewood Water built the large water tank.

Update on PSEG Gas Work

July 28,2016

the staff of the Ridgewood

Ridgewood NJ, Starting Wednesday, July 27, 2016 PSEG will be working on W. Glen Ave. with the large detour in place until Friday, July 29th. Then on either Friday or Monday they will move to E. Glen Ave. working between Maple Ave. and Fairfield Rd. for about 2 weeks. They will start at Fairfield and work backwards.

PSEG will stop short of the firehouse driveway and try to get the work in front of the firehouse/Water/ Recycling yard all done on one day. Please know that during that day there will be very limited and sometimes no access to those driveways.

After they complete the gas work on E. Glen Ave., they will return to the work on W. Glen and that includes starting off with the large detour for about 5-7 work days. And will continue west until they reach Monroe St.

To clarify, while working on E. Glen Ave., W. Glen Ave. will be completely open.

Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood PD Patrol Officer Kevin McKeon assisted a motorist whose rented RV became stuck in the gravel driveway of 210 West Glen Avenue, Ridgewood on Thursday afternoon, 09/17. The vehicle partially blocked the busy east/west roadway, which required McKeon to manually alternate the flow of motor vehicle traffic until a flatbed tow truck was able to free the RV from a stuck position. No injuries were reported, nor were there any summonses issued.
