Ho -Ho-Kus NJ, in a fortunate turn of events, no one was injured when a New Jersey Transit train collided with a car in Ho-Ho-Kus on Thursday morning. The incident occurred at the Hollywood Avenue crossing at approximately 10:15 a.m., according to NJ Transit officials.
What Happened?
The train involved in the collision, NJ Transit train #1110, was en route to Hoboken, carrying 50 passengers and a crew of four. As it approached the Hollywood Avenue crossing, it struck an older model Nissan Altima that had been on the tracks. Fortunately, the vehicle’s occupants managed to exit the car before the train made contact, avoiding any injuries.
While the car sustained significant damage and had to be towed from the scene, the train itself only experienced minor cosmetic damage. Passengers on board were safely transferred to another train, and the service resumed shortly afterward.
Emergency Response and Investigation
Ho-Ho-Kus Police, Fire Department, and EMS responded promptly to the scene, along with NJ Transit Police, who are currently investigating the cause of the collision. At this time, NJ Transit has not released additional details about how the vehicle came to be on the tracks.
Minimal Disruptions
The collision caused minor delays to the Hoboken-bound train, which had departed from Suffern, New York, at 9:54 a.m. While the accident briefly interrupted service, normal operations resumed shortly after the passengers were transferred to a different train. Despite the collision, no one on the train or in the vehicle suffered any injuries.
