The Madison Rose: Swanky New Upscale Cocktail Lounge Set to Open in Downtown Ridgewood

Ridgewood NJ, North Jersey’s nightlife scene is about to get a major upgrade. A sophisticated new “cocktail room” is preparing to make its grand debut in downtown Ridgewood, bringing a highly anticipated vision to life at one of the village’s most talked-about historic properties.
Dubbed The Madison Rose, the upcoming venue describes itself as a “swanky upscale cocktail room with a vibe.” Positioned in the heart of the downtown district, it promises to introduce an elevated destination for craft cocktails and evening lounge culture.
Here is the story behind this long-awaited project, its location, and what to expect when the doors finally open.
The Corsa Building: A Timeline of Delays, Pivots, and Perseverance
While The Madison Rose feels like a brand-new concept, the groundwork for this venue actually began years ago.
Back in 2019, local developer and real estate broker Jon Steingraber purchased 2-4 Garber Square—historically known as the Corsa Building. His original vision was highly ambitious: a ground-floor restaurant and bar paired with boutique, hotel-style accommodations upstairs.
The original proposal aimed to introduce Ridgewood’s very first overnight lodging option, featuring six boutique guest rooms on the second floor.
How the Pandemic Changed Everything
Just as the project was gaining momentum, the 2020 pandemic disrupted the hospitality industry. Steingraber recently shared on social media that the development had already secured formal municipal approvals for both the upstairs hotel rooms and the downstairs bar right before COVID-19 altered the project’s trajectory.
While the property was eventually stabilized and sold to new ownership, Steingraber strategically retained control of one of the last available liquor licenses in Ridgewood and signed a long-term lease to guarantee his vision for the ground floor would still come to life.
Opening Day Draws Closer for The Madison Rose
After navigating years of zoning hurdles, pandemic-related delays, and structural pivots, the finish line is finally in sight.
According to recent updates from Steingraber, construction and interior design milestones are hitting their marks:
-
Permits: Officially approved by the village.
-
Interior: High-end furniture has been delivered and installed.
-
Bar Setup: Commercial equipment is fully in place.
The management team is currently putting the final touches on the interior styling. While an official opening date has not yet been locked in, the team notes that opening day is “getting closer” by the week.
