Not Enough Ball Fields in Ridgewood They Say

Ridgewood NJ, we have been told over and over that there are not enough playing fields in the Village for the RBSA , but a recent ride around the village would suggest otherwise . We realize it is an isolated moment in time ,but if we are short on fields why does Glen School now have one ball field when it used to have two? By the way the grass looks nice.

  1. I agree, the fields aren’t being used. I go out all the time and take rides around the town. Fields are almost always empty after school and on weekends.

    1. yes its a scam
stevens has 2 “turf” fields to be used for softball or baseball but not 1 game is played on either.

maple field has a ball field, is “turf” and not 1 game is played at maple

      1. The soccer bunnies have exclusive access to Maple and Stevens. I thought you knew that !

        1. Add LAX to that mix

        2. The maroons soccer program is bergen county vs just ridgewood. Should Play games in other towns but the field scheduler is a former maroon board member/treasurer and rbsa treasuer. Hmm.

          1. You got that right !

Fast Eddie has been the fields czar in Ridgewood going to back to at least 1991.

        3. Cancel all adult soccer league permits. Let the kids in all sports use the fields.

  2. Baseball participation in town is off by 35% since 2011.

But the RBSA won’t show you those numbers.

  3. Great pics.

Bright sunny day and no one playing ball.

Maybe they all went to the CBD to buy food and check out the new garbage cans…?

  4. Look at the bright side of this.

Without the ball fields you won’t get the free parking spaces.

  5. How about Travell? Some years bag, there were 4 trees in the middle of the fields. They are gone now. I only see T-Ball on Sundays. 1 diamond is only for that but the other on Fairfield is ideal for girls softball and all types of practices.
Also a few year ago, they put protective fencing in front of the playground, also rarely used when school is not in session.
The fields are rarely used during the week but used a little during soccer season.

  6. Citizens is not used, A lot of fields sit open.
Habernickel is over used by baseball and soccer. Spread the wealth. It’s insane how stupid people are

      1. I agree – baseball all summer long and soccer all fall

  7. Citizens used to have an upper field who uses that?

    1. the upper field at Citizens is sloped – probably too much to put a usable field there

there used to be a small baseball diamond up there but was never kept up properly by the town

      1. Years ago it used to be used to little kids t-ball but as you point out, it is on a hill so it shouldn’t really be used for that. It is excellent for dogs playing fetch however.
