Trenton NJ,  The National Rifle Association Institute for Legislative Action and the Association of New Jersey Rifle & Pistol Clubs, which is NRA’s affiliate in New Jersey, filed a lawsuit today against the state of New Jersey for a restrictive law that essentially denies law-abiding gun owners the right to a concealed carry permit.

“It’s outrageous that law-abiding people are being denied their right to self-defense by arbitrary means,” said Amy Hunter, spokeswoman for the NRA. “Statistics show that self-defense situations come up quickly and without warning. Time and time again, we hear stories about good people who have saved lives because they were carrying a firearm. The state of New Jersey has no reason to deny law-abiding citizens their constitutional rights.”

The may-issue law in New Jersey requires law-abiding gun owners show they have a justifiable need for a concealed carry permit beyond the right to self-defense. They must show that they have been threatened in a specific way, which has resulted in few New Jerseyans being issued permits.

One of the plaintiffs in this case is a firearms instructor with a current federal and New Jersey firearms retail license. When he applied for a concealed carry license, he was told to not bother because it would not be granted.

The case is Mazahreh v. Grewal. It was filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey.

  1. Its about time the honest gun owners are allowed to protect themselves and their families.
The nanny state here is way out of touch.
When Florida changed their laws to allow concealed carry for residents AND non-residents, violent crime against innocent citizens dropped because the thugs didn’t know if granny was packing heat.
The only thing scumbags fear is force. They don’t respect the law.
We deserve the right to protect ourselves from criminals.
In the age of Democrat chorus of ‘defund the police’ who are you going to call?
Remember the police have guns to protect themselves. Calling 911 is AFTER the fact.
Just like the NJ ‘justifiable’ need law.
How did that work for the lady in Midland Park that got killed by her ‘ex’.
Not quite able to apply for a permit when your already dead.

  2. Re: the Midland Park lady, according to her kids, if the police had done their job, they don’t think their mother would have been in harm’s way to begin with (https://www.courthousenews.com/children-say-police-saved-mom-machete-murder/). But sure a better, more sensible option would have been to arm her.

  3. Yes it’s here and right on time.
The liberals in NJ have run out of excuses for denying law abiding citizens the right to protect themselves.
You assholes brought it upon yourselfs with the defunding mantra. Now, you have no choice and no excuse.

  5. We need a national concealed carry reciprocity act, just like a drivers license. If one obtains a concealed carry in ANY state (whether its your home state or not) then it must be recognized nationwide. That would allow us to get CC permits in FLA or UT that would be honored here. (not just a ‘home state CC since NJ would make it unworkable if in fact it was ever legislated’
The libtard politicians will NEVER admit the problem is not the firearm, its the scumbag pulling the trigger… usually an inner city scumbag. (hence the reason for no description of the suspects in violent crimes when reported by the fake news)
Are we still looking for that irish kid from paterson in a hoody?

  6. Hmm. Constant complaining about libtards and high taxes and irish kids from Paterson, but loves UT and FL. Maybe you should leave NJ and let the libtards be.

  7. There are a number of states that reciprocally recognize conceal carry laws. I have a permit from Florida and could use it in 18 states, but NOT in NJ and as of last year, PA. I wish there was some way we as individuals could assist in this law suit, say by having thousands of us sign a petition or something.

  8. The 2nd Amendment in The Bill of Rights to our US Constitution, GUARANTEES every US Citizen has a RIGHT TO KEEP (have) AND BEAR (carry) ARMS. Other wording in 2A “Militia” any able bodied male, service in a Militia is NOT a requirement, it is an Individual right (not collective), “Regulated” means equipped, in proper working order NOT gov rules “Shall not be infringed” means what it says. 14th Amendment guarantees equality!
