HACKENSACK, NJ & FAIRFIELD, NJ — A routine motor vehicle stop quickly turned into a high-stakes situation on August 22, 2026, when an off-duty law enforcement officer stepped in to help a fellow officer in danger.
Hackensack Police Detective Michael Reo was off duty when he witnessed Fairfield Police Corporal Jeffrey Dean struggling to gain control of an uncooperative suspect during a traffic stop.
