Hackensack NJ, according to Hackensack Fire Department, on Sunday, March 20th @1932 hours members of the second platoon were dispatched to 105 State Street for a report of smoke in a second floor apartment. First arriving companies were met with smoke on the second and third floor with fire showing in the rear of the building and also for the roof area.
Deputy 2 requested a second alarm to the scene as Hackensack companies put multiple hand lines into service knocking down the fire on the second floor. Companies found fire in the cockloft (void space below roof). Companies opened up the ceilings on the third floor to access the fire in the cockloft as ladder one and rescue one opened the roof area. Companies had the main body of fire knocked down at about 30 minutes. Extensive overhaul was conducted.
One firefighter was injured with a cut to his left hand and transported to the hospital. Additional companies that assisted at the scene Teaneck, Englewood, Bogota, Ridgefield Park , Teaneck EMS and HUMC BLS. Fire is currently being investigated by Hackensack Fire prevention.
