Orpheus Club Men’s Chorus to Present Holiday Concerts “Stars of Wonder, Songs of Light”

Ridgewood NJ, Orpheus Club Men’s Chorus, New Jersey’s pre-eminent men’s chorus, presents its 2019 Holiday Concerts “Stars of Wonder, Songs of Light” on December 14-15 in Ridgewood, NJ, with music for every taste, from classical to pop, sacred to secular.

The concert will feature the music of Praetorius, Mendelssohn, Brahms, Lauridsen, Hoagy Carmichael, Louis Armstrong, Jerry Herman, and as always, a song composed by the late Richard Lane, Orpheus’ longtime pianist. Guest soloist: jazz trombonist Bob Ferrel. 

Orpheus is led by music director John J. Palatucci and pianist Ron Levy. The 2019-2020 season celebrates Levy’s 15th anniversary with Orpheus.

The concerts will be held on Saturday, Dec. 14 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 15 at 4 p.m., at Ridgewood United Methodist Church, 100 Dayton Street, Ridgewood, NJ 07450. A reception will follow Saturday’s performance.

Tickets are available in advance, for $20, at www.ridgewoodorpheusclub.org, or call (201) 677-8439. At the door, tickets are $25, or $23 for seniors and students.

  • At St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York City (5th Avenue, between 50th and 51st Streets) on Thursday, Dec. 19, at 7 p.m., in the 40th Annual “A City Singing at Christmas” concert, under the direction of Dr. Jennifer Pascual. A highlight will include the performance of “Hallelujah!” from Handel’s Messiah. For the best seats, attend the 5:30 p.m. Mass, or come as early as possible.
