Mike Mullins, a 37-year veteran firefighter and two-time Captain of Volunteer Fire Company No. 3, is currently facing a difficult battle with cancer. Now, the community is coming together to give back to the man who has spent decades protecting them.

Former Ridgewood Fire Chief Robert Missel has Passed Away

Ridgewood NJ, on May 19th the Ridgewood Professional Firefighters FMBA Local 47  announced the passing of former Ridgewood Fire Chief Robert Missel. Chief Missel started as a probationary firefighter on November 16, 1964, was promoted to Lieutenant on August 1, 1978, and Captain on November 1, 1983. He was then promoted to Deputy Chief in 1986 and Chief in 1987.

Relief for Drivers: I-80 Eastbound Lanes in Wharton Set to Reopen After Sinkhole Closures

Wharton NJ, after months of delays, detours, and traffic headaches, drivers and local businesses near I-80 in Wharton are finally getting a break. The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) announced that two eastbound lanes of I-80 are expected to reopen Wednesday night, weather permitting. The reopening comes after extensive closures caused by multiple sinkholes, which began forming over the winter.
