Paramus Drug Dealer Picked Up With 20 Lbs of Weed

Paramus NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of JOSE A. GONZALEZ, JR. (DOB: 10/09/1981; single; self-employed) of 246 Beechwood Drive, Paramus, NJ on a charge of possession with the intent to distribute marijuana. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love.

On May 11, 2022, a warrant search of GONZALEZ’s vehicle revealed approximately twenty pounds of marijuana in a duffel bag. A search of GONZALEZ’s residence revealed additional marijuana, bulk cash and jewelry believed to be proceeds of his criminal activity.

JOSE A. GONZALEZ JR. was charged with second-degree possession with the intent to distribute marijuana in a quantity greater than 5 pounds and less than 25 pounds, N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5b(10)(b).

GONZALEZ was remanded to the Bergen County Jail and is scheduled for a first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, NJ.

Prosecutor Mark Musella states that the charge is merely an accusation and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. Additionally, Prosecutor Musella would like to thank the Paramus Police Department for their assistance in this investigation.

  2. Why is it illegal for people to possess marijuana at this point? 1 gram or 1000lbs, what’s the difference?

    What a waste of time for law enforcement! Stop the guys from Newark that come up and steal cars, before devoting time to people with marijuana, of any amount. Car thefts affect other people, marijuana sales and use does not.
